Has anyone ever seen someone put an 8" sub in this location on a Honda Civic?

not without serious fabrication. To get any amount of airspace, you need to do some cutting and removing of some metal. I could've swore I've seen it done before but can't remember where. I know I've seen a ton of guys put a sub behind or by replacing the glove box.

Car Setup: OEM Radio, RF 360.2v2, Polk SR6500 quad amped off 4 Xtant 1.1 100w mono amps, Xtant 6.1 to run an eD 13av.2, all Stinger wiring and Raammat deadener.

It's a pretty big gap. I can't imagine a reasonably sized 8" subwoofers basket and magnet wouldn't fit there?

I'm thinking of replacing all my carpeting in my car and will have to be removing all the console crap as part of that.........

Totally unrelated to your question, but how difficult was it to take everything out?

That stuff couldn't come apart any easier. It's just a bunch of philips head screws.

given appropriate fabrication skills and lots of patience, i see no reason you couldn't do it... things to keep in mind as you design would be:

mounting points (these have to be integrated, you can't build the box and THEN decide how to bolt it down)
strength (you can't just glass out the right volume, it's still a 25 pound hunk of metal that makes much backpressure - wouldn't want your shiny new box to explode into splinters... or flex, that's less bad but still bad)

um... i guess that's really all i can think of... if you decide to do it, we're here to help and make sure you keep us updated either way!

If you could make it work, that would be a great place for a sub. Ive actually thought about downgrading to a 8" sub and mounting it up front under my dash somehow.

focal makes 6" subs, you could always throw one of those in there.

Nah, Im an "all Polk" kinda guy so Id go with something like a MM2048 and call it a day.

Note to Polk - 6.5" dedicated midbass speakers wouldnt be a bad idea. ;)
