Final Questions

OK, I'm getting ready to order some stuff and I have some questions.

Here is what my system will consist of

Installing this month
1) Alpine 9831 HU + iPod
2) Polk C400.4 amp
3) SR6500's up front
4) 4 gage power/ground to dist blocks, 8 gage to the amps

Possible future (probably not likely as I need my trunk space)
1) Polk C500.1 amp
2) SR104 sub

Q1) What fuse do I need in the inline fuse holder? 60A, 120A...

Q2) Since I'm sticking with only components up front, can't I just get a 4 channel RCA cable and use 2 preouts to my amp? I'm going to use the crossovers that come with the speakers instead of the pre-eq button just for safty sake so I don't accidently hit the button and fry my tweeters.

Q3) Distrabution block - since my amp is fused, probably just match them. So 60 A fuses in the Dist block?

Q4) 8/4 gauge power/ground should be fine, correct?

Q5) Can I get carpet to match my truck at a autoparts store? sounddomain sells it but its WAY more than I need.

Q6) 16 guage to the speakers should be fine correct?

Notes, I have turn on wire already and various terminals.

See pic for what I'm thinking I need, I'm going to give KnuKonceptz a try.

    1) 60 amp
    2) Yes you can but why would you want to? Using both front and rear outputs from your head unit will allow you to fade between the tweeters and mids which can be handy if some recordings are a lot brighter than others. This way you can tone em down without having to mess with your amps or crossovers.
    3) You dont need a fuse at the distribution block unless you just want one there. The one at the battery is to protect from fires and the amp has its own so one at the dist block would basicilly be redundant. Not a bad idea, just not something you need. But if you want one, then yes, 60 amps.
    4) Use the same guage wire for ground as you use for power.
    5) Dont know
    6) Yes

Thanks again MacLeod for your input!

    2) Here is what I was thinking, if I use a spliter, I'm losing 1/2 my preout voltage, correct? So if I use both preouts I don't lose my voltage to each input into the amp. Also the fading thing would be a bonus, not sure I'd every use it though. I guess I could use the preout on the amp to feed back into the other input with a really short RCA cable as well.

    4) I am looking at 4 gauge from battery to dist and from ground point to dist. From the dist blocks to the amp (power and ground) using 8 guage. Although with one amp I really don't need dist blocks. But it is one less thing to worry about once I give up and add a sub later on :D

Just use both front and rear preouts. Its a pain cause you have to buy a second pair of RCA's but you can buy a 4 channel RCA for just a little more than a 2 channel set. Its worth it.

If youre running only one amp, Id skip the dist block altogether.

Thanks MacLeod, you have been a big help. I pulled the gun and ordered everything I needed (left out the dist blocks, I can always get them when/if I add a sub.

I'll post some pics of the install and finish when I'm done.
