My new Polk db6750 components. The sound reproduction of the Eclipse CD5000 is astounding. It's vibrant, clean, clear and precise. I have the Serius sattelite radio and the GPS unit also.

That is a very cool head unit. I was thinking very seriously of getting one but went with the Alpine instead.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Damn I did not realize that the Eclipse CD5000 looked that good. That headunit there is among the best on the market in my opinion. Seldom do you find a headunit with 8 volt preouts.

Cost was $529 (expensive) but you get what you pay for.
The CD8445 is just last years model. The two head units are virtually identical. You have an excellent head unit and should be very proud.
On a side note, this is the first head unit I've ever had that I had to read the owner manual to properly set up. It does sound great after fiddeling with all the different settings. The GPS unit is just crazy (good), I don't even need a speedometer anymore.2001 Camaro SS - 348 RWHP 375 RWTQ

Sweet! A Camaro SS with nice audio gear! *drool*
Post some pics of the car! Does it have T-tops? Please tell me it's a 5-speed manual! What color is it? What have you done under the hood?George Grand wrote: »

One of my friends from work showed me a picture of the new Camaro that is coming out a little later. She is going to get the V-8 version . I think those are going to put out over 400 ponies. Can't wait for her to take me for a spin. She also has a 68 Camaro. She paid around 3K for the car and about 5K for the engine. That thing is a monster .Alpine: CDA-7949

Ooh, tell me 'bout it. A '68? I have my eye on a '68. Of course, it's not like I'm going to buy it in a year...but one day...:D
$3k?! What kind of condition was it in? Sounds like she had to do a lot of work to it. $5k for the engine? What is it? And what'll she do?George Grand wrote: »

I think she picked it up from an older person. She has done a good amount of work on it, alot of performance stuff. She painted it too, and that was over 4k I think. The engine is modified slighlty . Some guy she knows who builds engines actually hooked her up. I guess it would have been more had she not known the guy. She is really into the drag racing scene and goes to some big event near Los Angeles every year, and others as well. I think her boyfriend competes in the drag races too. Not the top fuel stuff, but still very fast cars.Alpine: CDA-7949

By the way this chick is a tuff chick. One time a lady from work gave me a hug and a kiss wishing me a Merry Chirstmas as we were at my job parking lot. Her husband all of a sudden came out thinking she and I were having an affair  . It was all straightened out, but before that, she (the lady who owns the Camaro) was about to smack the guy with a champaign bottle that someone had given her. She actuallyt told the guy, he is my friend and I know his expecting wife, and if you don't settle down I will smack you over the head with this ******* bottle. She said all this pretty loudly and pretty close to his face. That was a pretty funny incident. Not at the time but we did laugh right afterwards.Alpine: CDA-7949

Aww, come on. I don't think you could have danced around the subject more if you had wanted to! LOL
What size engine? Bored out? Naturally aspirated? What'll she put down on the dyno? Roll cage? What else has been converted over to strictly drag racing? What size rear tires? Has she been mini-tubbed/tubbed? What'll she do in the 1/4?
Specifics, man, specifics!
EDIT - Oh, and if you work with a gal who has a tricked out '68 Camaro and don't know the specifics...then shame on you!! :DGeorge Grand wrote: »

I actually was not dancing . To tell you the truth she told me some stuff that she did on it, but I just don't remember all of it. I will ask her when I go back to work, on vacation right now . I think that it's putting out around 500 ponies if my memory is working right now. The car has not been converted to strictly drag. The rear tires are huge, she had to do some work on the back end, and had the wheel wells rolled some to accomodate the larger wheels. Will keep you posted after I get back to work.Alpine: CDA-7949

Man those are sharp HU's. I will keep my Alpine for a while, but if I switch I think the CD4000 or CD5000 would be what I get.
