What is the general opinion of this unit? I realy like the the specs and I like the basic front panel no flash. All so if you own one tell me how you have it integrated with your amps. My other consideration is the Pioneer P-9 combo. I am not looking to compete I just want sound that will compare to my
Lsi 25's. The other parts to my system will be Dsl Iriduim.

Thanks John

From the looks and specs that is one very nice HU. The only thing is that Nakamichi's reputation for reliability is not very high these days...

The Pioneer P-9 combo is a very nice setup. Not only great sound out of the box, but a lot of tuning options to help tame the interior of your car.

I read that they had some problems with their multi desk players, but not with this unit.

What exactly do you want out of your system? Meaning do you want any type of processing in your system?

I just want very high quality music from the radio and cd's, I need good reception and would like the head unit be upgradlable to HD format. As far as processing whatever is needed for my truck to achieve the above.

    Thanks, John

I am not sure about the HD format compatability of the units, but if you want processing abilities the Pioneer combo would be the way to go. Either way those are some nice choices to have :).

Unless you really are going all out, I don't think you will ever acheive in a car what your LSi25's can acheive in a dedicated room.

Has any body had any experence with Nakamichi CD-700II? I am unsure of how it hooks up to the amps. All the literature I have read says that it has 6 pre amp outputs tweeter, mid and base, if so how does it handle rear speakers and crossovers that are not separatable?

it probably has a mode or a group of settings that would allow you to change that to 'front, rear, sub'. you should do as much as you can to find out if there is such a setting, cause it'd suck if you go and buy it and find you can only run a 3-way system from it...

Buy it if for no other reason than the coolness factor. I would love to have a Nak.

Everything I hear about them is great. But hell why can't they build them to look aftermarket instead of factory looking.

Thats the plainest looking headunit I believe ive ever seen. For 1200 bucks I can get much better like the P9.

Thats what makes it cool. Im tired of the flashy, LCD screens and all that. I like the understated, all business look.

That is one reason I really liked my Alpine CDA-7998. Sure it had a good amount of buttons, but the display was very plain, and very elegant.
