Most elegant front end with SDA

I have Polk 2.3's with Aragon amp and pre, and northStar DAC and transport. Everytime I have upgraded my front end the Polks have sounded better. I am wondering how far one could go before the Polks began to hold the system back. Anyone running the Polks with ultra high-end equipment? Not necessarily a price issue but quality?

The better the gear, the better the SDA's sound.
Did you upgrade your crossovers yet?Political Correctness'.........defined

I have changed out the tweeters and really enjoyed the improvement. Unfortunately it looks like I might be selling the Polks due to thier position now has to be in front of a window and they are blocking a gorgeous view. Wife wants the view back. Given I might be selling them, I did not want to tackle the crossovers, but I hear that it makes a substantial difference as well. I had to go to an $8,000 speaker to hear anything I liked even as well, and heard many above that point that did not compete on many dimensions, particulaly filling a large room without strain and throwing a wide sound stage.gammajo

I've seen pics of your set up, you've got a wall of windows. Those SDA's don't block that much of it, besides won't your new speakers block some of it too?Political Correctness'.........defined

2.3 are I think 55" tall by about 22" wide. They block a good bit when sitting. The new speakers are 40" by 11" and can be positioned further apart allowing more view from the sitting position. In addition the new ones, Von S vr4SR's are tapered on top and have about a two inch space beteen the tweeter/mid aray and the woofer, which lets a good bit of light in and breaks up the mass. I have to agree with her that they are more esthetic in that location. So I am debating.gammajo
