    hey Danger boy,
Judging by the lack of response I guess you and I are the only ones thinking wheels.
I’m thinking of putting some wheels on my Ohm I’s. I typically move them every weekend to vacuum around my equipment and they are heavy speakers.Bill

It's a radical idea for sure.. but there's no reason it couldn't work. As long as it didn't compromise the speaker in any way. Attaching wheels I don't think would hinder the towers at all.

At least it should be on option for people to purchase. Surely not every buyer will want them.. but for folks like CFrizz, it might make a ton of sense as an option if she likes towers, but hates their weight.

I'd be surprised if any manufacturer as widespread as Polk would put wheels on their speakers. The reality is that speakers are rarely moved once they're placed, and having something that ultimately changes a speaker's relationship with the floor will also affect it's bass presentation.

The only way you could put wheels on the speakers is if you drilled into the upright wood and didn't drill a hole completely through the enclosure. That would cause a problem with the bass levels IMO. The other issues is that if you get too close to the edge, you risk punching out the side and then your speaker is forever trashed.

The best idea IMO is those nylon slide pucks under the speaker that can significantly reduce the friction making it a much easier thing to push. If they can work for couches, they can easily do the job for speakers.

the large SDA SRS's I have each weigh 190lbs. i can't move one by myself. granted Polk doesn't make such large speakers anymore.. but, those SRS's. have threaded slots on the bottom for feet/spikes/etc. that's about all it would take on the rear bottom of a current day tower.. say a RTi12 to have wheels/rollers as an option to attach to the threaded posts.

that's all i'm saying. yes i know it will be a cold day in hell before it's even given any kind of consideration.

Just that with all of today's advances and conviences well all enjoy. one small little mod to a tower speaker IMHO don't seem to be that big of a deal.

The Clarity cost $2800.... it's at a price range where a lot of other good speakers reign.

How about LSi15's with casters instead of spikes?

Edit: oops, I see someone already thought of that...

OR, if you're on carpet, you can put it on those slippery plastic discs that they use to put under couches and such. Then you can just slide it around...

LSi sound in a smaller package to me would be Onix reference line. Same Vifa design tweeter. The 1.5 or 1.8 both come is at 50-55 pounds each. Iknow getting your listen on is important, but for the cost of shipping, a 30 day trial in home would be cheap.

The Ref 1.5 is truly cheap!! Judging on my thoughts regarding the Ref1, I'm sure that will prove to be a solid speaker especially at the $699 price - considering they used to sell that speaker at the $1800 mark.

It's not too heavy either Cathy.
