Juice, since this forum doesn't offer Private Messages, this is the only way I can contact you about something to do with the VTF-2. So far I really love the sub, and there have been absolutely zero problems with it.

I would just like to know where you have your setting for the crossover on the VTF-2? I see you have the RT800i's and I have the RT1000i's, which are pretty similar. I would also like to know if you still run power to the subs in the 800? If so, what setting do you have your volume control on? Personally, I am still running power to them, I just have the volume turn down to about the 2 full white line. That way, I still have some lower frequencies in the front channels while most of them are directed towards the sub.

Also, do you run your CS400i large or small? Personally I have mine set to large and notice when I set it to small, the center sounds thin. What are your opinions on this?

Just to clear this up, what I am trying to do is make sure that my speakers sound even as it goes from a higher frequency to a lower frequency. Make sure there are no gaps in between Hz's.

Thanks for any help you can give me! :)

lax, the 800's don't have built in subs like the 1000's. i have both the 800's and 400 set to small (seems to improve the clarity in the speakers), i leyt the HSU's deal with all the bass. both HSU's are set to max extension and are crossed over at 80hrz, volume knobs set to approx. 60...

have you checked your frequency response across the whole spectrum with any test discs and SPL meter?

you can email me direct at jwaters@rlps.com

Thanks for responding Juice. I thought the 800 had built in subs. My mistake.

You have your volume knob set to 60 (degrees)? Really? Isn't that really loud? I only have mine set to a little under 1/4 of the total volume. Plus mine is running about 3-4 dB hot.

BTW, yes, I used Avia and a SPL meter to set it up. I also have mine set for max extension.

    Thanks for the response. :)

set to 60 on the volume dial is perfect IMO. i have the sub level set to -3db in the rec. set-up if i remember correctly? this setting will also factor into the volume you desire on the subs' volume dial. ie.: if your rec. is set to +3/4db in your set up, your 25 and my 60 may sound very close to the same. i hope that made some kind of sense?

Yeah, my receiver settings is at 0 dB. How big is your room?

Thanks for answering all my questions.

the HT set-up is in an area approx. 15'x15', but that is only part of my 15'x25' finished basement(so there is more air for the subs to push). check out my system showcase plan of the HT...

Maybe I just have never been able to experience a decent sub in my home but my sub could not be put any higher than 1/4 of the total volume. It is very loud. But I guess I need to listen to it more and more and get a real feeling for it.

BTW, I watched The Patroit Superbit Deluxe in dts and was amazed at how deep the bass goes.

This sub is one purchase I will never regret making.

Thanks Juice for answering all my questions.

    no problem man.

the vtf-2 seems to have no limits, i've had to tone mine down alot from initial set-up (put in event horizon if you want to rattle your brain). if you are happy with it set to 1/4 volume, i would keep it there. of course it never hurts to tweak, but sometimes you just gotta sit back and enjoy ;)
