Hello all,

I am in need of a SL2500 tweeter for my 4.6s. I bought them second hand on ebay (advertised as mint and top working condition) and upon 1st hook-up found that one of the tweeters was non-functional. The seller is waiting for me to get back with him on my replacement costs (because they worked perfectly before shipment.) Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Hmmmm? sorry i don't have a SL2500 tweeter for ya. but. just thinking out loud here.. not that this couldn't really happen of course.. but tweeters don't often get damaged in shipment. the mid woofer/driver yes, but i haven't heard of many SL2500's doing that.

It's good to hear that the selller is willing to work with you. that's a major plus right there.

    either way. good luck.

I have my thoughts on the issue but am willing to give the benefit of the doubt. The speakers were packed with exceptional care (wrapped individually with bubble wrap and the box was loaded with popcorn stuffing) so it would be hard to figure that the tweeter could've gotten damaged in there? I read on another post about a potential problem that could've happened to the crossover unit, but I inspected that with a voltage meter and couldn't find an issue. I then hooked the lone tweeter up to the amplifier and nothing...not even a crackle. So...I am left with a very nice looking and sounding(out of the non-damaged one) pair of speakers. I am in the middle of remodeling my basement and was looking to use my Monitor 5's for the front channels and the newly purchased 4.6s for the rears. So .. I can be patient in my search to some degree...but given the age of the speakers it is going to be difficult to expect a resolution within a given time period.

Thanks for your thoughts. I hope it all works out in the end as the speakers make a perfect match for my M5s. (Same series and cabinets)

Polk no longer sells the SL2500, but they do sell a replacement, part #RD0198-1 for the Club price of $48.00.

That is one of the worse ways to ship any piece of gear. The bubbles pop and the peanuts shift around allowing the item to move around inside the carton.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions and assistance. I ended up buying a replacement tweeter from Club Polk (very friendly and helpful.) The seller of the speakers was also great and refunded me $20 of the purchase price. So in the end, I have a very nice looking pair of 4.6s with a brand new tweeter for a total price of $107. :)
