Thanks for the heads up. I'm currently looking for a sacd/cd player.

What does it regularly go for?

I think that's the "regular" price. List price is higher, but I think it's always been available somewhere for $799.
BTW, I don't think this player has the outputs for multichannel SACD if you need to have that capability.Carl -
No multi-channel for me.

My error, it does have multi channel analog if you need it. Marantz list price $1,099. See attached spec sheet:

No idea, if something is wrong with them, I'd rather have the one that's already been back to factory. Who knows.Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.

I was looking at this piece of gear. Initially i was thinking about getting a universal player like the Marantz DV-7600 as my old dvd player is acting up w/ movies only but does not play SACD and music is really my primary focus.
How does the SACD side of the Marantz DV-7600 universal player stack up against the Marantz SA-8260 SACD player?
Is the 7600 much better than the 8260 for playing SACD's? Or is the variance not that great.
I was thinking if the 7600 SACD player is significantly better i may be better off getting this piece of gear then adding a lower end DVD player (say 300 or less) for the occasionally movie.
Suggestions much appreciated,

I don't know as I haven't heard them, but it would be a safe bet that the SA-8260 will outperform the DV-7600 as dedicated SACD player.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

I agree with Steve with regard to the DV-7600. However, I sent a similiar question in an email to Marantz asking them to compare the sound quality from the DV-9500 or 9600 to the SACD 8260. Their response was basically the 9500 or the 9600 has an improved sound vs the 8260 for a vareity of reasons. So if your looking to put DVD and high end sound quality into one unit, go for the Marantz DV-9500 or 9600. These units cost about twice as much as the 8260.
Comparing the Marantz flagship universal player to the Denon 5910 or another higher end universal player is another question. Many like the 5910. I would like to do a side by side comparison to see if the 5910 (twice as much as the Marantz) is worth the money compared to the Marantz player.

The refurb marantz's are great from ac4l. I bought an sr7200 from there and only had one problem with it. The surround board was cracked during shipping so my left surround wasn't getting signal. I just dropped it off at a marantz dealer and everything was fixed. No charges at all. I dunno who they billed but it wasn't me
