Has anyone tried building a Gainclone (kits/parts all over the net, here for example)? Or heard the original Gaincard for that matter? Do they really sound good or it's just the DIY psycho-acoustic? :D

    Welcome.

Brian's kit is really nice and straight forward to build. You may also want to look at : http://www.audiosector.com/

Peter co-designed the kit with Brian and Peter's local to you. The kits sound nice. Will it beat $1000 amps? Probably not but it's better then mid-fi to my ears.

    regards

Thanks phoneisbusy! Will check it out.

While reconditioning my RT2000i, I found that the active sub amp is actially built around this chip. So I started wondering about it, thinking if Polk is using it - it must be good :)
