Once the bug bites...

Hey all,
Back around boxing day I got a bit of the bug to buy a 5.1 system for HT only. I looked around a bit and decided on the RM 6005's. Nice price worked ok for HT. Hey it was better than I had, which was nothing.

Now for the news.
As usual, for me, once I start something (Like getting the audio bug AGAIN) it usually turns into an upgrading, more money spending thing.

There is a decent sale on the RTI4's at the Future Shop up here in Canada. Well damn, can't let that one go by. Sigh...
Geez, I cannot buy the 4's and leave that little center there, can I????

Nope.

So enter the CSI 3. Am I doing this again??!? Still lower end stuff but I did say that the 6005's were going to be enough for me. Did I really
think that?? ;):D

Well anyway, they are now all home!
I haven't had a good chance to test drive these well yet, but in the little time I had it running I'm happy!:o

Full review at a later date.

Hmmmmm... now how much is the top of the line H/K A/V cost??!?!

Off I go...

Well sig file fixed up. ;)

One question I do have though,

Should I run the 4's and csi3 as small or large?
Guess I'll play around a bit.

Oh a bit of a good sidebar story.
The wife came home and just shook her head and asked "How much was this stuff?" "Or do I want to know?"

My reply was..."They were on sale" :D

Good answer. You may be a hard core HK fan, and that's all good. If not, keep an eye on the Denon AVR's also. Good stuff.

Oh damn, now I know the price......."Oh honey".....um..... "But it was on sale though" :o Worked ok earlier today. :)

I've been an HK fan for a long time. I used to own an HK 795 receiver years ago and always loved the sound. Just not enough power to run the sda's. I have no problem with Denon though. Something else to consider.

Haha, nice upgrade path. And "It was on sale!" is a good answer...the typical female answer.

If you don't have a sub then set them to large, if you have a sub, set them to small.
The rti4's are a great lil speaker, I also saw them on sale and thought to buy a pair for the bedroom and replace the r10s. But no other stuff came up. Enjoy the new speakers

    Hey all,
Well after a couple days with the new rti 4's and csi3 I have been impressed with the difference with the HT experience. Much more soundstage, separation ect. Nice and strong but without getting too much in my face.

Not so impressed with them musically but I'm using a crappy receiver and the only other thing in the house to compare to is my 2b's and the Carver tfm45.
So you know how that competition came out. Again, not a fair comparison. But in the comparison at the store I thought they were easily better than the others I heard at the same price point.

But, especially considering the price, I am quite happy with the purchase and would recommend them both!!:D

**On a separate note I noticed the Future Shop flyer today had the RTI-6's ($399)and the CSI-5 ($399) on sale this week for anyone looking up here in Canada.

Now if I can just maintain some sanity and stay the hell out of the audio stores!!

That is a great price on the HK. HK is crazy expensive up here. Future shop was selling the 7300 for something like $3300. Get out now before your wife divorces you. Unless you want her to...then welcome back!

    Here's a thought,

Maybe if I get some time and energy I could hook up the rti4's to the Carver amp and actually give them a real test??

Sounds like a thought. Might send them poor little mids across the room though.;) There will certainly be enough power to run them unlike the crappy AV receiver that I am using now.

Just don't stand in front of the speakers, you don't need to risk your life. On the upside, it would mean you would have to go out and buy new speakers. But then it may really be over.

Here's a thought maybe if we all live in the same complex, have a common room and build one awesome system and share it. We may actually have some money for when we are supposed to retire. I think I just made the best financial decision of my life.
