I am new here to this forum, I was brought here from home theatre talk.

I hope some of you can give their poll vote and personal opinion on DVD Recorders. I am in search of one and am confused as to which one I would like to buy. I want one of the brand name products like,

Sony.

Panasonic.

Toshiba.

Pioneer.

ETC...............

Im big fan of Sony in some areas and video is their strong suit. Other than that, the Panasonic and Toshiba would also be on my short list.

I feel your pain...I too have been considering one and after much research and shopping around I came to the conclusion that I really am not ready to drop my cash on any particular brand! I do lean toward the Sony but my friend has been very happy with his Panasonic! Good luck and keep us posted!

Welcome to the Forum. Sony is the big name product, but some of their lower end stuff is poor. I'd go with Pioneer or Toshiba. Get Japanese made if you can!

Panasonic is hard to beat for video equipment in my book. You'll pay extra for it to say Sony on the box, imo.

I was starting to think maybe a Toshiba with a 250 gig HDD for only 314.99
    at http://www.onecall.com/ProductDetails.aspx?sHist=12-53%2c4-2004%2410109&menu=true&id=29435

If anyone gets time please tell me what your honest opinion is. Oh I also wanted to tell you all that I know somethings about sound and video but by all means I am not even as close to that compared to all you gents and ladies here. All my music and video was installed by a professional, But I helped so I would know how to disconnect it if need be.

You got a real nice system Eric. I hope you hang out a while and maybe learn a little about audio. There is some video discussion here but audio is the most discussed. This Forum has been very informative to me. A lot of knowledgeable, nice people, a little crazy at times but mostly good fun. No shortage of opinions and some good advice. Welcome!
