Is anyone on MYSPACE?

I used to be. In about two months, I got a grand total of 22 views. That, and the fact that I failed to see the point, and all the horror storries about it, persuaded me to delete my account.
Mine was pretty much purely about cars. I briefly mentioned my education so far, and then I went on and on (and on and on and on) about cars. All my pics were cars. I actually used a pic of Sami's Skyline, too.George Grand wrote: »

I'm on mostly for keeping in contact with people I don't speak to otherwise. It's also fun to see fake celebrity sites.
I don't know what kind of "horror stories" audiobliss is referring to. Those are all with regards to young girls and stuff being harassed or stalked by creeepy people. I don't think any of US have anything to worry about. Stop listening to all of the ridiculous scare tactics in the news.If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -

Agreed. I think they're a hell of a lot better than most of crap I hear on the radio, and I'm not just saying that because my cousin is in the band.
I've got their demo EP (older stuff) on my computer somewhere if anyone is interested I could probably email the mp3's. Gotta spread the word.Sony KDL-40V2500 HDTV, Rotel RSX-1067 Receiver, Sony BDP-S550 Blu-ray, Slim Devices Squeezebox, Polk RTi6, CSi3 & R15, DIY sub with Atlas 15 -

I like "Machine" the best. -
I just signed on about a week ago to see what all the talk was about at work. It's kinda cool, I went to a small high school so not too many people on it from there, few family members I don't get to see.Matthew

Eff myspace, call your friends on the phone, or better yet, and I know it sounds crazy, see them in person.

I don't use Myspace.com to many horror stories out there about bad things happening to people who use MySpace. and it's just one more thing that would keep me in front of the computer.. and i certainly don't need that. ha ha ha.
I also can't and don't understand the whole fad of myspace.com. there are plenty of other similar sites just like it. but the one that really swept the world by storm was MySpace.com i am just curious why ones like Yahoo 360 don't have the same following?

It's really good exposure for bands, otherwise it's a glorified meat market for people who aren't who they say they are.

I have a tile and stone business on the side, and was wanting to upload all my pics that I have taken from the jobs I completed. Would a MySpace work for this? i mean, can you actually make them look professional and all that?? 'cause the only ones I've seen have been pretty darn tacky.
I've also heard that Zanga could be a good one for making a portfolio of my work.

Or a good way to keep up with "Friends" who you don't want to / can't speak to in person, or send funny things to people you know. I don't know anyone who's "met" someone on MySpace, most people I know use it to keep in touch with people they know from the real world.audiobliss wrote:bobman - What did you use to edit the layout of your myspace profile? It's kind of a hodgepodge of things I found on the net, honestly. I kinda found the CSS code for everything I wanted to do and one by one tested it out to see what it looked like. I wish I could remember what I used to generate the color scheme - there was a generator that worked perfect for that part of it. Google "MySpace Generators" and you should find something to your liking. Most of it is just kinda futzing with different hacks and seeing waht works. Learn the basics of CSS and you'll be a lot better off.
Here's a good "site" for contact tables. Anything you could possibly want or need.If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
So, it's like email?
-
Has anyone met anyone that they can call a true friend? Or better yet, have a sincere personal relationship? I'm geussing the odds are small. Maybe it's a good place to express our alter ego and live a fantasy life where no one represents themselves in a true, honest and sincere way. All that aside, anyone met any hot members of the opposite sex for sensless frolic??:DCarl

It would be a terrible place for a business outside of pimping. You need to have an account to view all of the pictures in a persons profile, which would be a hassle. You could post pictures all over the page, but that tends to look tacky. Adults who want to check out your work probably aren't going to want to go to MySpace. It's just how I see it, but yes...it can be done.
Are you just going to link people, or expect them to find it? They won't find it on their own. That said, why not just email a page you created that features your work? A flyer of sorts.
There are plenty of options for free webspace out there, but you're going to get ads as well. I would go that route, or spend a money and get your own URL. It's not very expensive. -

You're really trying to sell email aren't you?
MySpace would certainly work for SOME businesses (although I can't think of many), certainly much better than EMAIL would work. If you can get enough people to be your "friend", then more and mre people will click through other people's pages and find you, and therefore your business. Since they actively found you through someone they know, it's not just some spam email they got in their inbox. I don't even click on emails that I don't recognize - they go right into the junk mail folder. If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
audiobliss wrote:I would say yeah, it'd probably work. It really depends on what you want. There are so many people on myspace, you'd get a lot of views; but how many of them would be people close to you and who might actually be interested in your work? If you're looking for a place to refer potential customers to so they can see your work, I wouldn't recommend it. I'd say maybe start your own website, like with yahoo! I have one, and it's free. With myspace, you'd get a lot of unsolicited views.
I am trying to get a site where potential customers can go to view some of my work. I could give a flip about people commenting on it. Probably right about Yahoo. I need to check that out as well. I would have well over 75+ pics right now, of a lot of jobs, so I wasn't sure what kinda site could handle that, without paying someone to build me one. I'm fairly tech savvy, but haven't truly began my search to build this site... preliminary work first
Heck, right now its just on the side, and I don't even have a business name. Ha.Honoured to be, an original SOPA founding member

Okay, point conceded, but clearly masonry work wouldn't exactly be a good business fit for MySpace, right?
I just can't imagine looking for potential vendors from here at my office. Me, I'm looking through industrial catalogs I have, and using the internet search engines for whatever I am looking for. -

Correct. It's called NETWORKING and like it or not, it is the future of business, especially small-business. -
In the business world we like to call them Distributors....They've been around forever. They don't use MySpace either.

See, I only work Word-of-Mouth. No advertising, so sending emails would hardly be practical for me. John Doe liked my tile work i did for him, and tells his cousin about it. Cousin calls me up, I come look at what she wants. I then hand her a card with my website on it, saying, "You can take a look at some of my work on there if you want any ideas, or I can just create what you already have in mind." Most of the time they have an idea of what they have in mind.
Anyways, that's kinda what I was looking for. I dunno. Just exploring right now.Honoured to be, an original SOPA founding member

Right, but a Geocities or Yahoo site would be a better choice than MySpace. It's not geared for business. With the other options you can at least customize the page with important things instead of:
Name:
Height:
Body Type:
Looking For:
Marital Status: Swinger
....you know, it's not exactly a place for a business small or large.
