Confused

i curently have a B&W set up, B&W DM602 S3x2 bookshelfs, center LCR600 S3, polkaudio psw 10 no rears, Onkyo 501E, and i am thinking of adding a floorstander to my system, i wanted to Get the B&W DM603 S3 but it just does not party like the Polk Rti8 and am not sure if it will jell well, the PSW10 is doing well on the system but i am not sure if this will be the same for the Rti8, any ideas? i listen to a lot of music than watch movies, does anyone know enough to help me make a decision. i listen to some jazz, neo-soul, and some blues. my listening room is 3.2 meters by 4.2meters, tiles on the floor, silky curtains and a bulky large suade 2seater sofa

Does that mean you have already heard the RTi8 and like it better than the 603?

I have already heard them, they sound great, i like them, i just dont know if they will do well in my set up, i have the M40 in my bedroom using a sony str db495 (i am not sure it this model number it right) to power them, i can always move this into the living area and use them as rears, i'll just be missing a center, but the other thing is that i dont do movies all that often. i listen to a lot of music, a whole lot so hence i want the floorstander. it just has the presence i need. i dont know if i am making sense?

Sounds like you are mainly concerned about music performance. If I were in your position, I would probably just buy the main speakers that I like the best, even if they did not match the rest of my theater setup. Those are the ones that you'll use the most. So if you really like the RTi8 for playing music, go for it. On the rare ocassions that you use your system for movies, they might not blend perfectly, but I doubt it will be all that noticable. And then you can use your 602's as rears.

Or, just save up a bit more money and get some 704's

i have decided to go with the Rti8's, in my opinion they dont need so much power to run in comparison to the B&W's, i am not too farmiliar with the performance and power requirements of the B&W 704, but from my experience you need quite a substantial amount of power from the amp to drive B&W's generally. i currently use the ONKYO 501E and will maybe change this unit in a year or so and will be using it to drive the Rti8's which i reckon wont be that bad, and from my experience again polks dont need huge amounts of power to sound decent. thanks for the input you've been helpful. i just love stereo, i am not jump out of my skin for these new surround formats, settings and all that jazz, its just too much. An integrated amp, decent CD player good interconnects and speaker wire, decent speacker as well and your set, thats the direction i want to go when i have a dedicated room for music. The Rti8's in my opinion are good for jazz, soul, house, gospel, neo-soul blah blah i think you get the kind of music i like. when i auditoned them, the salesman played the jazz group Fourplay and the song 'dance with me', and i continuosly askes if he had the sub on. but they we being run by the ONKYO 603 so that will account for how good they sounded. Anyway thanks for everything, i realy appreciate it.:D
