I've read where they have put out their rated preout voltage, both in magazine articles and independent testing......
At least they don't do the Alpine thing where they claim 4v's and only top out around 2.3V's or so.Alpine: CDA-7949

Cody - Do you happen to know what Eclipse's RMS preout voltages really are?George Grand wrote: »

I read where someone had tested the output of an Eclipse 8V unit, the thing that stuck with me was that they said that for every 10 steps of volume they got one 1v output. So the unit at 50 was at 5v's and 6v's at 60.
Eitherway, some feel that the 55 ohms on the preouts are actually more important...Alpine: CDA-7949

Whao...I thought only inputs had resistance. How can an output have resistance? Just in the connection?George Grand wrote: »

the most i ever got out of any 8V preout was a 6.7. My Pioneer topped out at 6.3...its rated at 6

All of the Eclipse units, minus the entry one, have 55 ohm line out impedance....

i think that the output impedance is the impedance against which the internal circuitry is pushing... lower impedance yields better sq, to a point (again, i think)... there's also a requirement that the input impedance of the amp be either lower than the output impedance of the HU...It's not good, very fundamentally simply not good. - geolemon
