Guess Who's the Most Trusted Brand?

This made me sick
Forrester Research has discovered that the top three "trustworthy" electronics manufacturers were Apple, Bose, and Dell. Microsoft scored lowest in both perceived growth and trustiness while Sony is floating somewhere in the middle.

Remember—this is not about "quality" per se, but the trust a consumer feels when purchasing a product. To see Bose hanging out way up in the corner is madness, though

Seriously, if you look at the graph, Bose blew every other corporation away. Those guys should win awards for marketing.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

the sound of there stuff notwithstanding, from a marketing and business model standpoint, theyt are impressive to say the least.

I had a pair of Bose 501 ser 5's I bought real cheap. they were worth the price I paid, but thats it. at full retial, eeeesh, I dont know how they do it. they just seem to have a sounf that attracts the untrained ear. when you get used to real stuff, Bose becomes unlistenable, but before your ear gets used to the good stuff, bose sounds great to most people.

Even if they were even moderately good, their marketing really is just phenomenal. I never really realized just how far ahead of hte pack they had gotten themselves in the (ignorant) public eye.

the power of positive thinking. I paid $XXXXX more for this computer/speaker/etc. so it MUST be better than yours.

I think this idea works in most product segments. For every person who always buys whatever is cheapest there has to be one who buys the most expensive blindly on the assumption its better based on the price.

Problem is lot's of people don't know what good sound is or what it should be. They believe people like Paul Harvey and rely on the company to tell them that this is what good sound is. Many consumers are followers and they hear about Bose all the time and are literally todl this is what good sound should be.

Just like Walmart and thier low low prices. Consumers are bombarded with the advertising for low priced items and after awhile consumers believe every single item in the store is at the lowest possible price anywhere, so they don't even bother to look anywhere else.

Bose is one of the most successful companies when it comes to the entire marketing scheme. As long as the stuff is reliable and people believe what the company says they are golden. Even doing a small bit of research would uncover the fact that Bose is not anywhere close to the best when it comes to sound. Plus they are selling a lifestyle. The product and the lifestyle are a package deal, with the emphasis on the lifestyle.

This isnt an accomplishment for Bose but rather one for their marketing department. Say what you will about their product, theyve managed to convince people theyre the ****. And that exactly what you need to do.

I see the upside to this. The used market for really good gear will remain open to those of us in the know since the Bose buyer sees absolutely no vaue in the gaudy oversized items we cherish. They believe that better sound comes in saltine cracker size cubes.
