amp for current and future use?

I was wondering if I could get some advice with my current and hopefully future setup. Right now I am running a LSi center channel and older Bose 701/161 with a built in sub. This is all running off of an Onko 701 AVR. I want to eventually replace my speakers with the other LSi series (possibly 9's-front and dipole/bipole-rear). I was also wondering about getting an amp for this setup and whether or not my center channel woould currently sound much bettter with the added power. I was hoping to get away with only one amp due to the money issue. I will not be able to do all of it at once and was wondering what would be the best thing to start with. This is just in the makings right now and I was looking for some professional advice.

    Hi Jim welcome!

    Do you want a 5 channel amp that will eventually run all of your speakers, or do you want 1 monoblock to just run your center channel for now? If you get a sufficiently powered 5 channel amp now, you won't have to worry about it as you add more LSI speakers.

    Thanks for the reply! I just found out that the house I am in the process of buying is wired for home theatre so I probably won't be purchasing the rest of the Lsi line after all. I am going to save the money for a plasma and in wall/ceiling speakers. I am now wondering if I should go with a mono amp for my center and be done with it or if I will benifit from a 5 channel amp for my new setup. Any suggestions on in wall/ceiling speakers and plasma/lcd's? I am saving for this but don't want to completely break the bank. I don't have HDTV service right now but hopefully will in the future. Thanks for any advice.

    A separate amp is probably the best thing I bought .. so far.
    What I mean is that once I bought an amp I was able to buy a different processor. Now I can experiment with different processors till I find what I like.
    I bought a 7 shannel amp because I hook up my system a little different than most. It also allows me to upgrade to a 7 channel setup when I get into a larger HT room.
    I just think that going separate with my components was the best way for me to experience what many of the people here have claimed was the best way to go.
