What's with all the static on some CDs?

I have 3 CDs - Miles Davis (Some Kind of Blue), Massive Attack (Mezzanine), Al Gromer Kahn (Tantra Drums), that have static and popping on them. Sounds like playing a dirty LP. I never noticed this until I got my new upscale rig where it really stands out. At first I thought it was the NAD C542 doing it. But now that I've heard it, I can hear it on my cheap CD player and on my PC.

simply, as your rig is moving up in the world, your going to hear details on CD's more abundantly than before. this includes some hissong and popping on some old recordings. I have some CD's with the same issue

I've heard wierd stuff that makes me check everything in a panic. Thinking one of my tubes are goofy or something. doesnt happen often, but it happens.
