Hey guys,
I have a couple of questions. I have a 2001 Ford Mustang GT Convertible with the MACH460 that I will placing the following system in:
A C400.4 amplifier.
A set of MMC6500 components up front.
A set of MMC525 components in the rear.
The front speakers are 5"x7" while the rears are 5.25". The rears will be pretty straitforward for the install, but the fronts are a different story. I'm assuming I will have to cut a hole for the 6.5" speaker, but what do I do about the rest of the hole (the 7")?
Second, how would I go about mounting the new tweeters in the stock tweeter locations? The stock tweeter size is 2.5".
Do you think that the C400.4 will be plenty of power for these speakers?
Thanks!
-Brian

Yes, the 400.4 will be plenty of power.
As for mounting the 6.5's you dont need to cut anything on the car. You can either buy or make adapter plates to fit and its pretty easy. Here are some for $20.
Im not familiar with the Mustangs so I cant help you with the tweeter install without seeing it.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

By the way those should be the MMC5250, not the 525
Sound like good news about the "no cutting".

Those will work good.
You could also make some mounts by using MDF. While my speakers fit perfectly into the OEM plastic mounts, I will be using MDF rings to minimize any resonance.Alpine: CDA-7949

How would you guys wire this stuff up... I'm going to be using the factory head unit.
I also have a subwoofer in the trunk.
Should I make some pre-outs at the headunit, and then run 4-channel RCA all the way to the C400.4? Then from there I can run speaker wire to my speakers, and another RCA from the pre-out on the amp to the input on my subwoofer amplifier.
Does that sound good? Is there any other way you would recommend?

If youre head unit doesnt have passive preouts, you cant make em.
You can however run speaker wires from the factory h/u's speaker outputs to the amps high level inputs. This isnt as good as RCA's but if youre sticking with the OEM head, its all you can do.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Since you are putting good stuff in your car, why not also get a good HU?Alpine: CDA-7949

Show me a head unit that has a 6-disc in-dash changer, and then I'll show you the money to buy it.
Why can't I just run a JL-Audio CleanSweep?

You could go with the JL processor as well.
I would go another route though....Alpine: CDA-7949

You can absolutely run the Clean Sweep, that is an excellent unit. Audiocontrol has similar units as well. There is a guy that competes in MECA that is running a stock head unit and he's a world champion. If you use the proper processing there is nothing wrong with using the stock unit.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Hey Mac what else is that guy running as far as signal processing? I would think he has outboard EQ's.....Alpine: CDA-7949
