RIP - Buck.
One of the originators of the Bakersfield sound, which changed country music in the 60's.
He influenced a lot of artists, most noticeably Dwight Yoakam and Gram Parsons.

my wife is absolutely obsessed with the Bakersfield "sound"....
before meeting her, I had never even heard of this genre or Buck Owens, but give it to her to school me:p
she even made this city boy learn the triple-step to "My Heart Skips a Beat"
needless to say, she's been quite upset over this newsI never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys.
