HSU RESEARCH VTF-2!! The best thing to hit my HT since sliced bread!

Like the subject line says, I just bought a brand new HSU Research VTF-2 subwoofer which is one of the best subs I have ever heard. After setting this baby up, which isn't complete yet, I tried a little demo material, and let me just say, the walls were shaking! How does that little thing push so much air? I have tried a couple music CDs (Linkin Park, Incubus: S.C.I.E.N.C.E, and Evita (my Mom's choice)) and I really can't believe what I am missing! I am sooooo happy! I also watched part of the DTS DEMO DISC #4. The Haunting in DTS-ES 6.1, is absolutely amazing! Eagles and SPR were also incredible!
Anybody who is interested in buying a sub, you deserve it to yourself to listen to the HSU VTF-2!
It even comes with its' own demo material! A burned CD with some classical music!
Well, I know some of you guys out there own them, so what have your experiences been?

Congrats on the new toy JB. I know exactly how (or what) you feel.
What are the specs/price tag?
Peace Out~:DIf...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent. -
welcome to HSU happiness heaven....
i couldn't beleive what this sub put out when i got mine up and running...:D -
Specs: 10" driver with a 150 watt amp!
Price: $518 w/ Tax and the awesome sales guy through in a subwoofer cable ($25)!
I actually found a place that sells the VTF-2 other than the internet and got a nice long test. The salesperson was incredibly nice and patient. He didn't treat me like a kid *cough* Tweeters and Myer Emco *cough* Anyone who lives in the Bethesda area probably knows of Hi-Tech Services. They also have a store in Fair Oaks, VA (I think, well it is somewhere in VA). With HSU, they also sell JM Lab, Legacy, Atlantic Technology, and assortment of RP and direct view TVs. It is a great store, and if you haven't been in there, I highly recommend a visit.
Juice: I thought you were the one running 2 VTF-2s? Is that right? How does that sound? One is stunning musically and with movies, but I don't think I could imagine TWO HSUs!
BTW, Where do you have your volume control set at? Mine is less or just about 1/4 and it is BLOODY loud! I mean anymore and the ceiling tiles will shake. So what's yours' like? -
correct, i am running 2 HSU's. it is almost overkill, but i love 'em! my HT area is 15'x15' but the whole finished basement is 15'x25' so i do have a decent amount of air to move. localization wasn't really a problem with one, but with two there is absolutely none! i have my volumes set just under the 1/2 mark on the dials, and one port on each vtf-2 is 'plugged' and their set to 'maximum extension'. are you using max. extension or max. output mode?
mighty impressive subs....:D -
The Haunting in DTS-ES 6.1, is absolutely amazing!

the olny prop i have with my sub is it rattles the grils in my window covers when i realey turn it up. thoes subs sound awsome but i baight my velo even befor i bought my first polks

Scott: True Story, but my receiver does 6.1 matrix, so it is still pretty killer.
Juice: I was reading through the instructions but still don't understand the max extension versus max output. Personally I have one hole plugged and the first switch set to 25 Hz (I think)(It is in the up position.) Sorry I am tired and still not 100% sure on all the info on this sub. -
the current set-up you are running is the max extension mode (or how low it will go). it will 'extend' down to 25hrz in this mode. if you take the plug out and leave both ports open and switch it to max output, it will 'push more air', or reach a higher db, but only reach down to 32hrz...
hope that helps a little, they probably explain it better in the manual. anyway, enjoy... -
I heard the VTF-3 kicks it out considerably louder and deeper than the VTF-2 - if that can be believed.
Has anyone in this forum heard it?
There is a killer review of the VTF-3 elsewhere in this forum - a hotlink is provided to another forum site. He REALLY loved the VTF-3.
I'm sure both are great subs - nothing but killer reviews on both.

i've read some raving reviews on the vtf-3. i would love to hear one, but no local dealer, and (2) vtf-2's puts that off for awhile. plus, i might have to re-inforce the walls if i ever upgraded to vtf-3...:D
-
Plus they are $800 each! I had the guy pull up how much each of them were. I have never heard it either, and am quite happy w/ VTF-2 for now.
-
i'll be happy with my vtf-2's for a long time to come...
the only upgrade i could think of, would be taken a shot on a DIY project similar to Ron_p's for me. of course i have no wood shop or area to build one in my townhome, so that's a ways off....
