Polk PSW1000?

Is there anyone who owns or has heard the Polk PSW1000 Sub? I saw one of these while browsing an electronics store. It was not hooked up so I couldn't hear it but it is a very nice looking sub. However, looks aside, being a dual 10 inch sub, and for the price asked, the specifications on Polks web site do not look very impressive.

I would appreciate any experienced based info anyone can give. I'm not in need per say for a new sub, but I would look into it, if the sound is as good as the looks.

I've never heard it, but I heard everything is great, except for the fact that it dont dig to well below 25-30hx. none of that hit in the teens feel it in your bones feel. well maybe not none, but less than say a comparable size SVS or HSU

there is one in a store about a half hour from me for like 650.00 that I am considering just because.

Thanks for the response Ohskigod. That it can't hit well below 25-30Hz is a bit disappointing.

I've gotten a little spoiled when it comes to subs, and as much I love Polk, and wouldn't mind trying one of their subs, I would need a little more impact than that, even at 650.00 (which by the way is much better price than in my area).

I like the look of it, and with 2 10's, I bet it would be a very musical sub. supposed to be built pretty solid too.

since I have all LSi in my theater, the psw1000 would look sweet, but that low freq extension issue might be the dealbreaker. eh, we should all have only trivial issues such as this to worry about :D

I own a PSW1000 that works with my RTi12 mains, CSi5 center and FXi5 surrounds.

The system is controlled by a Sony STR-DA777ES receiver and my fronts are set to large, the rest of the speakers set to small.

I just bought this system brand new less than a month ago. I changed over from my Cerwin Vega DX-9's to the full Polk system, and bought all the Polk's at the same time.

So far I am pretty impressed with the PSW1000. The fit and finish is very very nice and it looks like a piece of furniture rather than a speaker component.

Musically and home theater wise, I have no complaints and neither does my significant other. She actually encouraged me to buy the subwoofer!! Now thats a keeper!

I didn't have a LFE device other than the CV's (they qualify with a 15" driver) so I might not be the best candidate for a review. I did not pay MSRP and even if I did I would still say the unit is worth the money.

The bass is tight and controlled and it has no problem with our moderately sized living room.

Welcome Tim...I'm sure it's a very musical and tight sub. You're only missing out on the really low stuff which for some of us is very important, but not all.

    Enjoy your toy.

The bass impact is not in the 20's. It's actually located around 50-80Hz. So the 1000 should give good impact. My 650 does.

I had the LSiW before they recalled it (mostly the same sub). Very musical, super tight to 30hz, then a very steep rolloff. I could get just about as much with my LSi25's alone, so I didn't get a the PSW1000 when it came out.

I thought about giving this sub a try just for the experience of it, but the general consensus seems to be that its just not worth it. I'm currently waiting now for my RTi10's to come in. Decided to check those out instead.

Why don't you have the store salesperson hook it up so you can hear it and let your "ears" decide for you? Just because one says it's not worth it doesn't make it so.

Try it out and see how it sounds to you!

Yeah, your mileage going to depend a lot on your mains and use. LSi9's plus a PSW1000 is a very solid musical system- not far off LSi25's. If you want deeper extension, then the PSW1000 is not for you. If you've got full range towers that hit under about 35hz, then the PSW1000 won't add much. Anything else and you should at least give it a look.
