Anybody familiar with this amp? Is $300 out of line for what it is?

I love mine; it's my 'everyday' amplifier. $300 in good condition, re-habbed with good tubes (not necessarily 'new', just 'good' ones) sounds OK to me.
Secret, occult wisdom: the new production JJ EL84's are just fine...

Thanks. Do you know what the wattage is? Is that a Bottlehead Preamp you're using? What speakers are you using with this amp? What type of music it does it do the best job with?

oy, so many questions... :-)
About 14 wpc.
Indeed, that's a Bottlehead Seduction phono preamp. The HF-81's onboard preamp's not nearly as good sounding, but my EICO's phono section is UNRESTORED (i.e., the tubes are nondescript old US ones and I haven't bothered to change the caps or any other passives).
I mostly use a pair of mass-loaded folded tapered quarter-wave tubes (ML TQWT's) with fullrange drivers and planar supertweeters -- sometimes my 1974 Klipsch Cornwalls. Haven't ever tried it on my Monitor 7A's.
Does the best job with any sort of music (well, I haven't tried hip-hop). -

Cool. Looks like you have a nice 2 CH rig there for not a lot of $$$. That's the path I want to take, good SQ on a small budget.Signature goes here
