Drawing Floor Plans

I'm trying to draw the floor plan for my room on my computer. Here is my first attempt, as I attached it to my Hi-Fi thread. Earlier today I sketched the layout of my room on a piece of paper and measured out where everything is, and now I'm trying to duplicate that in Paint so I can attach here. My problem is trying to get it to scale. I figured that my room is 13'5" x 13', so I'll let one inch represent 1 foot. Ok, that's cool. So, now while I'm drawing, I use the 'status bar' on the bottom of Paint so I know how long to make my lines, so it'll all be in scale. BUT, the status bar is giving me distance in pixels. Well, I found online that one inche is 96 pixels, so I've been using that conversion factor. However, it just doesn't look right. And even if it were comign out right, surely there's an easier way to do this?
Any body have any ideas of what programs I can use to do this? Or a way to make it easier to do it in Paint?
Thanks!

inches to pixels depends on your resolution... perhaps if you made 100 pixels equal one foot, that'd be easier (or 120 pixels to a foot, so it's 12 to an inch)...
barring a program with an accurate ruler (i'm thinking of my CAD program here), it's gonna be really hard to get it to the 1-foot = 1-inch scale...
i'd personally do 120 pixels = 1 inchIt's not good, very fundamentally simply not good. - geolemon

Thanks. I'll play around with that for a while. So that means that, for my 13'5" x 13' room, I would make the area of my screen in Paint be 19320 pixels by 18720 pixels? Ain't that gonna be HUGE?!George Grand wrote: »

Yeah, that won't work...I don't have enough resources on my computer for that!George Grand wrote: »

Well, I just did it. Took me forever, but I measured off everything in my room and I came up with the floor plan of my room to scale. However, for some reason it's 10MB! What can I do to make is smaller so I can attach it?George Grand wrote: »

Thanks. I just found the 'Stretch/Skew' option in Paint and resized it. Down to 75kb now!

You're best bet for a scale drawing is to find someone that can create a Autocad drawing. Of course, that may be easier said than done. That is what I used to draw our floor plan to send to SVS for sub placement suggestions.

I think my version in Paint turned out pretty well, considering.George Grand wrote: »

There are a lot of floor plan layout for home desing out there for about $20. The ylet you drag adn drop furniture, add color and preview in 3-D. Pretty cool stuff. Most Comp USA's and Best Buy's have this softward. Also check the web.Carl
