Surroundbar help for beginner

I own Mirage Omnisats and would like to use them as rear surrounds with the Surroundbar. My receiver is 6.1. Is it possible or do I need a 7.1 receiver for the best sound? Also, since the speakers are not timbre matched will that matter? I could always go with the Mirage Unitheater if I had to but, the Polk sounded much better.
Sorry for the rambling- just confused and looking for some suggestions from the experts. Thanks!

If the receiver is 6.1, you'd only be able to use one of the Omnisats. It's up to you if want to upgrade the receiver for 7.1. Timbre matching would be a concern, but may not be a big deal. I'd try it out to see how you like it. You could also order some individual speakers from the RM series if you want matching speakers.

Thanks for the info. Guess the 7.1 is the move.

yeah, i would advise against 7.1 as well. can you try hooking up one of your Omnisats with your current receiver and the surroudbar? if you notice a difference between that (6.1) and just the surroundbar then it might be worth the upgrade, if you dont notice any difference than going to 7.1 is probably not going to be worth the money for you.

Not to bring it up but why not stick with the omni's version of the bar?

I guess I could buy the Mirage Uni Theater. I could add the two omni rears and be in 5.1. And move the Polk to my bedroom. Anyone demo the Mirage? I did. I felt the Polk had a much better surround feel. The Mirage may be awesome with the surrounds. I love the omnipolar effect.
