Any of the locals have any suggestions?

Go to Arthur Bryant's for some awesome BBQ. The best one is the original on Brooklyn Ave., in downtown, kind of in a rough part of town. Looks like a hole in the wall. But the BBQ is to die for. Don't take the sqweamish, it is a grease house, often with bare-handed cooks piling up the meat. But oh man, it's good. Be sure to buy a bottle of sauce to take with you. You'll miss it if you don't. I like "Original".

I'm working in North KC (hood, from what I understand), and staying at a hotel near Worlds of Fun (amusement park) off of 435. I got here Monday but have been pretty busy with work.comment comment comment comment. bitchy.

You could visit the Boulevard Brewery, they are famous throughout the Midwest for their fine beers. http://www.blvdbeer.com/ I think they have Saturday tours. They're located in close to the river off of I35 in central KC about 9 miles due southwest from World's of Fun.

Not too far away from Boulevard Brewery if you'd just go south on Southwest Trafficway or Broadway, The Plaza is a nice shopping/restaurant/bar district you could visit too.
