I am buying a plasma tv and I am debating between hanging it up on the wall or simply having it sit on some sort of stand. My question relates to the home theater center speaker positioning. If I hang the tv on the wall, the center channel will still be on some sort of stand beneath the tv. How close does this speaker have to be to the screen in order for you to still feel like the sound is still coming from the people on the screen and not somewhere else? I am getting the polk lsic.

It does not need to be directly attached to the screen. These days with lipsync and other gadgets you can make it work. So choose a spot which will keep the centre steady and safe. I am in the same situation, we bought a new tv/av stand and are thinking of mounting the LCD. Not sure depends on the $$ and convenience.

Also, make sure the center is angled towards the listening position.

    This is most important. Next...
I would go with whatever is closest to your ear level. For example, if the speaker is 7 inches below the TV, or 15 inches above the TV, and the TV is eye level, go with below the TV because it is closer to ear level.
