Just installed The XM satellite radio and I'm quite impressed. The install was pretty easy, but the results are fabulous!

Just thought I'd say high...not fallen off the edge of the world and plug a spot fo the XM stuff

XM radio is really cool! Did you get a Sony or a Pioneer or what? I got the Sony so I can use it in the home. Great for a 2 channel music setup! I hate country music but I love the progressive country channel. Raw and the Disco channels are cool too! The only thing I hate is that the talk channels are mono. I know that is all you need but it sure would be nice if they did a little audio magic with them.

    But will it last?

It seems like they are putting it in every new head unit that Sony and Pioneer makes, but will it last and is it really worth it?

    i think it will last
it was voted Fortune magazine's 2001 product of the year...
i dont have it yet though
i wanted to know if it was as clear as a cd?
no one i know has it yet and i went to the race in fort worth and they had it but they didnt have good systems--all they had were earphones and everything sounds good on those things...
in july/august i should be getting it...
i plan on using this radio...
    Pioneer Primier DEH-P930

    and this tuner...
    Pioneer GEX-P900XM

it says it tells you what song/artist--does it do that to yours guys?
the only thing that makes me mad about it is that u buy it xm ready--but then u have to buy another tuner for it--i think thats stupid--but from the looks of it--it has to do with size--not them wanting you to pay more money...

if it was free like raido i would get it but after my cabble modem and my cabble now i have to pay for raido and it has to stay in the car and it cost 300+ for the equipment i would rather buy a nother changer and stack them to get a 24 disk you can do that if you have alpine

I have the Sony model and it produces a cd quality sound. I use mine with my home system which is audiophile quality as well as the car and there are no clues whether I am listening to a CD or the XM. That is quite a feat!!! No compression, noise or other problems. At the time I bought the Sony I really wanted it for the car and after auditioning the Sony vs the Pioneer I found the Sony to have a much wider soundstage and better overall sound. (they had both units set up to go through the same amplifier and speakers). Now that I use it in the home as well I sure am glad I got the Sony. For the home I had to buy an extra sleave, antenna and power supply which cost an additional $155. Now I just snap it out of the car and snap it in the home sleave and I'm set. I am extreemly impressed with this product. The programming is excelent. NOTHING like FM programming. I find that I really like 99% of the programming music and for FM that number is only like 20%. They just seem to play song after song after song that I really like. Many of them I have never heard before and are hard to find in local CD stores. You know those new songs you hear the first time and say "I have to own this!"
    Awesome programming!!!

We put XM tuners in all our new demo vehicles. The sound is CD quality with no commercials. I drove from Baltimore to Daytona and listened to the same station the whole way. It didn't drop out at all. We use all Alpine electronics. The Escapes (which are on the installs page) have Alpine's CVA-1003 flip-out screen that is XM tuner ready with their tuner and a Terk antenna. It only costs $10 a month. That's not even the cost of one cd. Check out their website. It has all the channel listings and you can listen to it online. As for how long it will be around: GM cars will start having XM Radio in them.XM Radio Polk Installs

The only problem with Sirius is the limited coverage areas.
