addition to current system?

Right now I am currently running an old set of Bose 701's/161's with an LSic-center. My rears have a terrible "hum" to them and I am looking at replacing them. At first I was interested in the fxi5. After listening to some of the RM series(6800 & 6900) I was wondering about replacing my fronts and rears with these and using the included center for a rear center(using an Onkyo 701receiver). I was highly impressed with the sound that these "small" speakers produce. I am however slightly concerned with 2-channel stereo through them when strictly listening to music. Just looking for suggestions.

    jimbau,

    First, welcome to the Club.

Sub-sat combo's for stereo have been around for a long time. If you have the room flexibility to play with the sub's placement and properly calibrate it into your set up, you should be able to get good results.

For HT (sounds like you are heading towards 6.1), the sub with the RM is not going to shake the room, but it should do you for a while. While I've not read about anyone adding a "HT sub" to a RM set-up, I can't think of reason you would not be able to do that down the road.
    More later,
    Tour...
