No candles on hand - so I lit a **** instead.

As long as he enjoys them, and buys them 'right', kudos - but these aren't exactly heritage AR's, no? The 9LS I remember screamed 'average', visually AND sonically.

    Cheers,

The AR-9LS was the follow-on to my AR-9. It was supposed to address room boundary effects, by having one woofer fire forward and another fire downward rather than both firing sideward. A 10" and 12" woof to be precise rather than the 9's 2 x 12".

I was seriously cosidering going to get them myself, but turned Antny onto them instead.

Go back to your bottle, you are wrong. I won't say as usual, but these things are anything but "average".

The AR9Lsi was a gorgeous looking and performing speaker. You must be thinking of something else. Real walnut veener, down-firing woofer, about 145lbs a piece If memory serves...I had a pic on my web page, but can't find it now...damn.

I feel acerbic EVERY day. Some days are a little more acidic than others. It works for me.

The AR-9LS is a VERY accurate loudspeaker. The plain vanilla 9 has placement issues if you have a small room. The outer woofers need to be a minimum of 3 feet from the sidewall, and the speaker itself has to be within 2 inches of the front wall in order to get to the -3db point of 28Hz. The LS addressed these placement problems with the forward firing woofer and the downward firing woofer. The downward woofer was acoustic suspension of course, and the "vent" was towards the front, not a 360 degree vented affair like the PS-10 by Design Acoustics. The LS also has the tweet and upper mid integrated into one unit with separate voice coils, just like the AR-78LS that are laying around here UNSOLD. It had the same 8" lower mid as the plain vanilla 9.

Another fantastic product from a long gone fantastic company.

The PS-10, that was a funky, good sounding little speaker.

It definetly works for me as well, just checking. The placement doesn't sound any more problematic than an SDA.

I put out an email with an offer. We'll see what happens. I'm not adverse to raising the offer if I have to. They may need a little work, but I think they'd work out...

Thanks folks, I'll keep ya posted.

Henry, I think you may have a shortage of nasty molecules in your body. We can work on that.

Both my daughters had killer rigs in their bedrooms as soon as they had ears.

Troy or Steve, fill Mr. McLeod in. I got a head full of Venezuelan rum and a 0600 showtime tomorrow.
