Rear Duty?????

Hello once again people I do have a Q: If I use the Rti4's for my front stage and the Csi3 for my center would the R15's be okay for the rears as in 5.1????? I know it would be better to use another set of the Rti4's for the rears BUT am trying to save some money. In other words, would using the Rti4's as rears really make that much of a difference when watching dvds??? I know it would for multichannel music listening but I dont do that at all. Therefore, would the R15's suffice??? If so, I have read that the R15s are very difficult load on your receiver. Is this true????

They would probably be OK, but not ideal. I think you already know that. Maybe you could find a used set of RTi4 for a similar price to new R15's? In any case, using your best speakers for the front and the "budget" speakers in the rear is the best approach. Whether or not you will notice a big difference...I'd say probably not a BIG one. Whether the difference will bother you is something only you can answer
I'm not sure why the R15 would be so tough on a receiver. 8 ohm load, 89 dB sensitivity, same as the RTi4... -
The R15 will doa great job in the rear if you're looking at standard bookshelf speakers. The RTi4 wouldn't be a significant upgrade for that purpose IMO.
R15 a hard load on the receiver??? No way...very easy to drive... -
R15s will be a fine solution for now. I used them faithfully as my rears for years.

Good rhyme.
As rears it appears that they're good for the ears.

I have used R15 as my rears and they sounded great! Of course not as great as my FX500i with their Bi-pole design, but that is a given.

I used R15's for rears, but changed to R30's and found it was a great improvement. Maybe because the R15's were sitting on the floor. I do use a R15 for center and R30's for surround. I play mostly CD's and we have a very good FM station, use my system rarely for DVD's or movies. I prefer to listen to my music using Front R50's and rear R30's (A+B). Receiver is a Technics SA-EX900. I greatly enjoy the sound.

Thanks people for your comments. However, how do you think the R15's would blend with the Rti4's as fronts and the Csi3 as center?? Will it be timbre matched or will the R15's stand out and not blend to well when watching dvds. I have (2) powered 8" subs and a Yamaha RX-V757 receiver. Also, have read on some R15's reviews that they were causing some problems for some receivers by making them get way too hot. Surely, my Yammie could handle them ok. Feel free to add more comments as they are always welcomed. The way one uses a product is a much more SIGNIFICANT factor than which product(s) he uses.
