svs sub

Hi:
I am looking at purchasing a 31+ or 39+ svs sub. Not sure which to get. I want nice tight bass for my music but I also want a 20Hz extension or lower for movies. I know I can tune both to 20Hz and lower but does anyone know which one will goes louder. I assume that the 31 can go louder and be tighter as it has the smaller encloser but I am wondering if it can give me that rumble factor I am looking for in movies. Still want it to slam me in the chest for music. Can't decide which I want more.
How I will probably set it up:
Probably set the cross over to 80or100Hz.
Room:
basement with 6" concrete floor with rug over it.
Front wall and left wall 6" concrete with insulation and dry wall.
back wall and right wall are just dry wall with no insulation.
Current setup follows:

The 31+ (with no ports plugged) is the volume champ of the plus line. (obviously for 25hz and above).
For music and movies - the 39+ is the best combo. (more volume than a 31+ plugged with a little deeper extension.)
If I wanted it for both movies and music, I would go with the 39+.
I do like my 31+ but still plan to upgrade to an ultra (or infinite baffle) sometime. If I go the Ultra route, it is based on the 39" size tube.

Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)

Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms) -
I have the 39+ it's set to 20hz and get be dropped down to 16hz with extra port blocker.
I have set the gain at 10 o'clock on the sub, and on the speaker config is set to +3db(avr).
Now I live on the 2nd floor of a 2 Family house so I have wood floors, The living room is 28x17x11 with open dinning room and kitchen areas.
I use my setup primarily for HT and the sound is Awsome, because I have it in a corner it travels and vibrates the surronding area. -
What if I purchased 2 PB10-ISD,s instead? Would I see more bass out of SVS's 2 10" powered subs instead of the 12" cylinder?
For those who don't know:
PB10-ISD specs (x2)
10" woofer
300w rms
+/- 3dB from 20-100hz anechoic
weight = 60 lbs.
or
20-39 PC Plus
12" woofer
525w rms
+/- 3dB 20-100hz (20hz config) quasi-anechoic (can be tunned down to 12Hz I think)
Weight = 55 lbs.
or
25-31 PC Plus
12" woofer
525w rms

I myself have the 39+ and I find I have a deep rich base for both movies and music. I have it set for 20hz. My house is built on a slab in Fl. and my room is about 16x20. I was indeed impressed with the bass sound for music. I to would go with the 39+. DougOppo bdp 93 Blue Ray

Anyone ever have any chuffing/farting problems with the pb or the cylinder subs. Nothing p****** me off like hearing that when I am watching a moving or listening to music. My Polk PW10 does it all the time.Current Setup:

Comes from the ports on the sub as the driver is pushing to much air for the enclosure.Current Setup:

I would hesitate to recommend any specific sub for you as you have not mentioned the size of the room in question, nor your listening preference (db level).
If you are seriously considering an SVS, send the folks at SVS an email describing your listening habits, room size, room construction, budget etc. with as much detail as possible. They should be able to help you with your selection of sub. -
Tried that just wondering what other people thought before I drop a G note on anything.
Here is my room basically:

Tried what? Contacting SVS?
When I composed this reply quoting your message, the 'outline' of the room appeared correct.
Considering your room size, planned use (music and movies) and provided selection, I would opt for the 20-39 PC-Plus. -
Yeah, that's what I meant. Just thought I would check here and see what other people thought. I don't totally trust the opinion of anyone trying to sell me and then their recomendation is an upsell. I am not saying that the guys at svs aren't turstworthy I just want a second opionion, and a third, fourth, fith, sixth,:pCurrent Setup:

If you have a small closet in your room, you might want to try an infinite baffle subwoofer.

Actually, they were fairly persistent in trying to down sell me when I contacted them regarding the purchase of two 20-39 PC-Plus subs for my room. Then I totally surprised them by deciding to purchase two PC-Ultra's. They know their product well and recommend accordingly.
Have a look at the Home Theater Spot, SVS board for more info on SVS subs. -
