New Rti4's
I just got my Rti4's yesturday afternoon, and I can only say that I am completely happy with my purchase. I was taken back after removing them from the box, they're beautiful.
After hooking them up I realized what I was missing with those awful Sony speakers I've been running. They do seem to be a little bright, but it might be my reciever or maybe just the fact that I'm not used to quality speakers. By switching to these speakers I have taken a bit of a hit in the low-end. The Sony's had 8's in them and could hit pretty good for what they were, but I can certainly deal with that considering the upgrade in sq.
My big issue now is....I want to spend more money on speakers. Problem is, I dont know what I should get next, and I certainly need quite a bit. I certainly need a sub now, my reciever (kenwood vr-705) should be replaced and I would really like a center channel. Im quite certain in what I want for a reciever and center channel (H/K Avr240, Polk Csi3) but I'm at a loss for a sub and what I should get first. I would also like to note that I am a poor college student, so money is a bit tight. For example, getting these rti4's was quite a hit to the ole bank account. I think I might be able to take another 300 dollar hit in another few months though...

There is a nice used polk 650 sub for 350 in the Flea Market, I dont know but maybe you could make a deal or something.
www.partsexpress.com has some great entry level subs under the Dayton label. I bought a couple of their Advent subs when they were on closeout special and they work great also. A family member has the Dayton's and loves them.

Congrats on your new speakers they are noted as being one of the best in the Polk lineup and have won awards I am sure they blow the little sony away.
Welcome to our club.

Ill have to check those out, thanks. I was considering heading over to the Tweeter nearby to see if they have anything open box or clearance that I could grab for a good deal. Won't hold my breath though, its pretty doubtful.
Wonder if I could mod my car sub and amp....hehe.Ghetto Rig

Spending a day panning over the ideas, Ive pretty much decided that getting the AVR can be put off for a while. Im not sure how much difference I will hear as of now.
Im really missing some of the low end and want a sub, but then again Ive never had a center channel and Im kind of excited to see what that would be like. I really have no clue what would give me the most change to the system. And if I decided to go with the sub, Im still not sure what to get. I thought it would be nice to match the speakers with a Polk sub, but I'm not exactly sure. And sadly, a big thing for me are looks. I would like to keep the cherry theme going all around and it seems a bit difficult to find a cherry sub in my price range.Ghetto Rig
