Open season at Club Polk for scams now. Just wait until a guy shows up who isn't an idiot and knows how to scam people. Now we can't threaten them with broken limbs.

LOL.Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service. -
I guess I am one of the people that is considered "new" here and just trying to "scam" someone.
I was unaware of CP until a few days ago, and it just so happened that I had some high end polk audio equipment to sell when I came aboard.
I am an audio enthusiast/installer so i'm not just here to sell my stuff/scam someone and leave.
As you can tell I already have more posts than most of these "new guys" but sadly most of those posts have gone towards defending my name and intentions. -
Your only posts have revolved around trying to sell something..I plan for the future. - F1Nut

No defending needed for someone with your knowledge and experience helping out people new to the hobby.
To be considered a member at Club Polk (by other forum members) a large percentage of your posts need to be made outside the flea market area. That percentage is hard to accomplish when your main purpose for being here is to sell old equipment and your post count (while impressively high compared to other "new guys") is still in the single digits.

Maybe somebody can start a FM forum for CP's senior memmbers. Kinda like that angry Polk forum somebody made where we were able to blow off some steam and swear our hearts out.
The thing I liked most about the FM before was that it made this whole forum community feel like a big family. We gave good deals to eachother and stuff. When you have a new member come in and their first post is on the FM trying to sell something, it felt different. But I can't complain, Polk probably never realized how close and dedicated some of us would get when they first created the forum.
Demiurge,
I agree with you about the scam. -
well all I can say is it give me some time...i'm trying to sell these components and be done with that part of the forum for a while.
BTW both sets are pending sales so hopefully i'll be able to comment in other areas now without having my attention pulled elsewhere. -

+1
That sense of community is what enticed and made me feel safe making my first internet transactions. I never would have bought from a stranger had not the "Flea Market" police been on patrol 24/7. Oh well. I'm sure it will work out. It better because I probably wouldn't be let in to the Senior FM.:D

Most of these guys won't be familiar with that jazz classic cause it's not on "Time Out" or "Kind of Blue". Unless of course Diana Krall ruined it. -

I hear ya man.. After hanging around for a bit, I felt very comfortable with knowing I was going to get a QUALITY piece of equipment... now, I don't even look at the FM seriously, because I don't have a clue what kinda gear i'll actually get. I still hope you vets will bend the rule tho, if you notice us youngin's going to a pos.

I am still relatively new, being here less than a year; I spend a decent amount of time lurking and post a few things now and then, but lately it's just not the same....the forum is changing, and there's something I don't like about it. I MISS THE OLD FLEA MARKET, including flaming....or specially the flaming....:rolleyes:_________________________________________________

to the "I'm here to dump my trash" syndrome that may be occurring.
It's posted at http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38648
that was previously mentioned by another poster.
One reason that you all may be seeing more "Newbies" is that a lot of folks are taking advantage of the lower prices that Polk has for the introductory level speakers. I've bought R30's, Monitor 30's, Monitor 40's, and a CS2 in the past several months for prices that I wouldn't have been able to touch in times past.
I also bought an Athena AS-P4000 subwoofer, too. I mention that just so that I could see the Old-Timers cringe.
When we register on-line, we see the "Club Polk" link and it's off to the races.
Well, it's off to the races for some folks. Some of us are finding a fountain of information from real people.
Any-who, click on the link above, and see if my idea for a possible solution sparks any thoughts of your own.
The idea of having a "FM" section for those with posts greater than **** is also a valid idea, too. If that's what it takes to kill the "I've got a used pair of shower shoes" or "Cosmetically damaged General Electric speakers for sale. Make me an offer" posts, well , than go for it.
One final question: can I use 22 gauge wire to hook up my subwoofer, or should I amp up to, say, 18 gauge ?
.....sorry. Was wanting to see if I could feel the shudder and cringe from here.
....and I could. :cool:Sal Palooza -

I'm not sure who first suggested this, but I like it. NO.... I love it! That's why I've changed added this as a requirement before you are allowed to post in the Flea Market or Garage Sale forums.
All users MUST have 25 posts or more before they can post in the FM. And yes, 25 is enough. I've disabled the "post count" in the Testing Area forum, so unless someone is just flooding with posts (which we will obviously know about), 25 is a good number.
So thanks for the suggestions.

Excellent!
One suggestion (you've probably already thought of it, but just in case): Make a sticky in each of the FM forums outlining this rule in big bold monosyllabic terms. Otherwise, you'll be inundated with PMs from newbies, or they'll post in other areas wondering why they can't post in the FM areas.
Trust me on this one... -
