2 R15's as a center using series Question.

Hey guys, I am thinking of getting some Polk R15's later for using as a center instead of one center that cost twice as much and has one tweeter instead of 2... leaving the 2 centers canceling out each other issue....

Anyways, I know I have to run them in series, instead of parallel because my receiver

which delivers 65watts a channel 5.1.. 8 ohm...

If I do run them in series, 2x8ohm speakers, this I am assuming from researching, will create a 16ohm load for my receiver.

Is this safe or not to use for my Onkyo 65watts a channelx5 for a center that is 16ohm?

I mean, isn't the higher the ohm, the easier it is for the receiver to drive?

thanks.

If you do wire that way your receiver will deliver half the power when it sees a 16 ohm load. In other words when you wire in series by summing the load impedence you in turn half your power. Thus, if your receiver is rated at 65 watts at 8 ohm then at 16 ohm it will deliver approximately 32.5 watts of power. Also, when you change impedence you also change the cross over frequency but not sure how it would affect you in this regard. My advice would be not to do this. IMHO, by cutting the power in half to your center will not give you what you want. In fact, you may not even be able to hear it as clearly depending on your listening environment. Just go with the right center and you will be happy you did. Good luck in whatever you decide.
The way one uses a product is a much more SIGNIFICANT factor than which product(s) he uses.

i wouldn't do it. If you're that concerned about price then just use one r15 for the center.
