Denon DVD gurus...I have a question

I don't do surround, my Denon 2910 will be run strictly 2-channel, so here's my questions:

Do you see any problem running the digital coax out for Redbook CD playback, and running the regular RCA outs for SACD/DVD Video/Audio?

Can these connections be made simultaneously?

I was going to run the R/L analog out from the 2910 to my "SACD" input on my preamp; and run the dig coax out from the 2910 to my DAC, DAC to "CD" input on my pre. Does this sound good?

I would end up with my preamp inputs being:
"CD": My external DAC (Redbook CD)
"SACD": SACD/DVDA/DVDV

I assume you mean using the 5.1 analog RCA outputs and not the standard l and r ourputs?

That's how I have the 2200 in my bedroom set up, and it works great. I have the SACD outputs running directly to the receiver, and the digital output running to the Para DAC...

I'm pretty sure you can, I've got both hooked up on my 2200.

I meant the regular 2 channel L/R outs, is that ok? (I'm 2-channel only setup)

I don't have to use the 5.1 connections for SACD do I?

Steve, Your plan should work perfectly. I would use the L/R connections in the 5.1 output and set the menu to 2-ch (SRS OFF)
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

I think you should be able to use the regular analog outputs for stereo playback - I can on my 2900. Here's the easiest way to find out though:

Grab a SACD that is NOT a hybrid (does not have a regular CD layer)

Try to play it through your digital output - you should hear nothing, this just confirms that it's a true SACD only title and there's no CD layer, making that variable a known

Try to play the disc through the RCA jacks you're talking about. If it plays, then you're getting SACD playback through those jacks, since there's not a CD layer on the disc

I think you already know that and were just looking for confirmation that you could use both sets of jacks at the same time - which the answer is yes

Cool. You would think that SACD would be output at both sets of RCA analog outs; 2-channel and 5.1 (Mains). Provided you've setup your audio that way in the DVD's setup menu...

    Thanks guys.
