Cable Hum

After reading about this topic throughout the forum, I contacted the local cable company (sister company to our parent company) and described the hum I was receiving through my front speakers. They dispatched a tech and he went over to my house to find that the coax was not grounded on the outside. The cable company left me a VM and said go home tonight and see if you still detect a hum. If the hum is still present, they indicated that they would come at my convenience and do an inspection inside the house to ensure that everything was ground properly. End result, hum totally gone. And to boot, the premise visit was free. Great customer service and a happier Michael. An email will be going to their manager in the morning.

On another note, I have 2 colleagues coming over on the weekend to listen to some music & view a DVD's. One, purchase his new HT system at Wally Mart and said that he could not understand how anyone could spend lots of money on audio equipment. He believes there is no difference in sound quality in any system. Hell, I remember saying that a few years back. I just wish I had some of my future gear, but the system I have will surely turn ears. Should be an interesting weekend.
Michael ;)

I should have stayed at the Wally Mart level......just think of all the money I would have saved.

That's great. He can have the chair my 7 year old used to sit in. I hope he does not bring his own music.
