Ghost Recon Advanced Warrior

Well folks this game is going to be the threshold of how games look and feel. By far this is the greatest looking game I have ever seen.
As for gameplay it is classic Ghost Recon with some noce add-ons, like instructing tanks and helicopters where to strike. And trust me, playing this on normal is no easy task, it is a very difficult game.
Multiplayer is freaking great. Plenty of maps to choose from, and a lot of variations on what you can do. From CTF, Sharpshooter, team based games, control based games, and the weapons list is very diverse.
UBI-Soft and Clancy do it again. By far the best 360 game out there.

Noticing you have been playing it for a while tonight. Convinced myself to go drive and find a copy. I did so, and I am glad I did. This game is one bad ****. Multiplayer is a ton of fun. A must have for the 360.
-
If any of you other Polkies are playing GRAW, post your gamertag. I'm counting down the hours until work is done and I get to play.
-
Might be the time to get the ole feet wet and buy a 360....
-
Do it. Effing do it. I have no regrets whatsoever for having been an early adopter. Do it. Do the damn thing.

So, would you say that the whole thing about there being a bunch of faulty units was a bunch of hogwash as I predicted? I just want to know if you've been hearing of lots of issues with them, because damn to I want to do some HDGaming. -
With any product there are going to be issues. I mean, worldwide, how many thousands of units were released? Of course some are going to be caput. Mine works fine. Its fairly loud though. But then again, I only sit about 2 feet from the console. Also, last night, my profile was corrupted. That meant I had to format my hard drive and I lost all my game saves. Lots of hours down the drain. I think you can back up your saves, so I will have to look into that.
Anyways, to get to your question, its mostly hogwash. Not nearly as bad as all the haters made it seem. -

Yeah, on the 360 thread I was saying that I suspected it would turn out to be exactly that -- crap.
There hasn't been a system released where people didn't come out of the floorboards to talk bad about it to scare people away from buying it. I mean how big is Microsoft? One of, if not THE biggest company in the world....like they didn't put the thing through extensive testing prior to release...
Anyhow...I am a huge fan of Rainbow Six on PC, so I know I will love this one. I don't have any excuse not to anymore. Once I am set up I will set up a gamer tag. -
I hated the first GR, and in general, I do not like the tactical shooters, but I can tell already that I am going to be hooked on this one. Multiplayer on live is awesome.

Demi,
Even though I have the unit, and have had zero problems with it, I know three people who had to return theirs, and that does not count the people on Live that I play with that have had to return theirs. I still feel the numbers are larger than what they are saying, but overall the numbers are going down. But all of the people that had to return their that I physically know bought their units on release day. So I feel it is more of a first gen issue.
As for GSAW, man I was playing in the Temple map, I swear it felt like I was in a Mayan ruin. Some other maps are a little dull, but it is one hell of an intense game, single and multiplayer. -
I'll try to get set-up tonight with it.

Oh my God! It is an awesome game, even better than COD2. I'll see you guys in a couple weeks....!I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.
-
Damn it! You guys stop with this talk. Now I have to go buy an Xbox 360 and get this game. I'm such a junkie for this kind of game. Call of Duty, Rainbow Six....I love 'em!No excuses!

I am stuck at the artillery compounds with the Apache and Bradley (and my squad) at my disposals. Calling in the Apache to rain down death from above to the rebels, reminds me of the napalm bombing scene from Apocalypse Now. Btw, I lost the Apache during one of the intense battle here, is there any way of NOT losing the Apache? The pilot and I seem to get along really well, he never talk back to me other than aye aye, sir!I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

GET IT! I want to set-up a team of folks to play with and schedule some campaigns with. There's nothing more fun than doing the multiplayer capaigns with like 4 people all working together. This game is nothing short of amazing.
-
Played with Demi a few days ago and we had a blast. He's a great Ghost Recon player. Patient and takes his time, name of the game in GR.
I laugh my **** off when people stand up and start running when they get sick and tired of sitting, they last all of maybe ten seconds. You try to run and gun in this game (a la Call of Duty 2) and you will surely die.
My favorite game mode so far....Co-Op Campaign. They have four campaigns to play, the maps are huge, if you play them in sequence it has a nice little story to them, and you can have up to 8 players on the map. And the more players you have the harder the enemies become. Just a fun way to pass time, only thing that stinks is if you die early in the map you coulds wait 15-20 minutes before playing again. -

Ugh, I JUST finished that part last night. It was a pain in the **** because it's so hard to see.
If you don't have the sniper rifle you're going to have a rough go. I sent my team up to the big concrete wall barrier and put them on ATTACK mode. Then I waited for the 2 enemy vehicles to show up and put the Apache on the one on the right and the tank on the one on the left. Then I called both vehichles back to my teams position.
Then I moved myself and my team up to the spot of the destroyed enemy vehicle on the right. At that point a bunch of enemy soldiers get on the .50 cals and such. Use the heli to take them out, and also order your team to kill them. If you have the sniper rifle keep picking the guys off. I find that this part of the game is more about telling your team and vehichles what to do....rather than what you're doing.
When they are all dead hit the left HUEY (I think), then the one north of it, and then the one to the east. Use the Apache to take out all of the soldiers.
If you think that was hard, the next part is worse. It's another where you have to man the guns in the Helicopter and shoot like 50 guys scattered on bridges and rooftops. I didn't think I would be able to beat the first one like that. -
Thanks Demi! I suppose I am calling in sick to make sure the artillery are destroyed.
Manning the gun turret on the helicopter IS a pain in the ****. I thought shooting those clowns is a walk in the park, but after got killed at least 10 times, I learned that I am the sitting duck. Not them.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -

Okay one thing I noticed with this sequence is that I had to ramp up the in-game settings brightness level. I set it at 6.
I get the Bradley rolling first and have him destroy the Armvehichle that comes straigt down the map, I have the Apache take the AV that goes to my left, and I leave me and the Recons behind the fence.
Now you need luck after the AV's are done, I headed to the middle bunker, and directed the apache to take out whatever forces there were, then I directed the bradley up the middle to the compound opening. Apache also, and the ghosts crept up. Then I took my time and went immediatly to my right and took down my first tank, NOW FINALLY YOU WILL GET A SAVE POINT. The rest is a piece of cake.:D
The key is destroying that first tank, and trust me it took me a minimum of 20 tries before I got it right, but only about 3-4 tries after I bumped up the brightness.
BTW- It only gets better on the next map when you get to "Lone-wolf" it. All by your lonesome, taking on pissed off mexican military you just tried to kill while manning a turret in a Apache. Talk about beyond hard. I destroyed the first SAM, but when the whole calvery comes near the second SAM, it is near impossible. -
Oh for christs sake, thats it! Time to budget one of these into the fold. You guys have convinced me! I gotta get in on this action. We'll have to create a "Polk Death Squad" or something similar.
What Xbox package should i look for? What controllers? Accessories?
Talk to me guys!No excuses! -
Mua ha ha ha....it works on John, guys!
Get the premium, minimum, since it comes with the wireless controller and HD. The wireless network adapter snap-on is also a very worthy buy.
Thanks for the hints, Avalanchefan. I realised it's not going to get any easier from here on.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -

Thanks! It was fun playing with you guys as well. Were some of those people friends of yours?
I like the co-op campaigns as well. So much more fun, especially if you can get everyone to work as a team.
I hope we get more CPers with this game so we can get some of that going again. I like it when everyone isn't just off doing thier own thing. -

If you can find the premium it worth the extra 100 dollars. Because I spent 400 on a Core and HD. Then I went out and bought a wireless controller and headset. Plus I had to purchase the Hi-def cables. (got those half price on Ebay) In all I spent an extra 100 dollars. But now I have an extra controller. I would definately buy an extra wireless, that is next on my to-do list. I have 2 boys, and we all like to play PDZ, or now GRAW. So another controller is needed. -

Definitely get the premium. I didn't get it because they didn't have any and I was too impatient to wait any longer. It wasn't all that more expensive and I just bought a wireless controller as I wanted an extra controller anyhow.
Getting a headset is a must too. I still don't have one yet, but I will be getting one within the week.
Also, you'll get a free month of XBox Live, so no worries about having to buy that right away.
The game ROCKS the crap out of my subwoofer and the surrounds sound great too. You totally feel like you're in the action when you play it through your HT system.
Also, do you have an HDTV? It's just amazing!!!!
Go out and get one today! -

Fuzzynine is in the same neighborhood as me, I think doghart joined for a while and he is on the S&V web-forum. And a few others where on my friends list as well. Most of my hardcore friends/players play after 9 at night.
Yeah i would love to get a Clubpolk group together, and maybe we can get a few guys over from Sound and Vision also. A lot of great guys and players their too. But I only play with a few of them. -
You guys may want to try to get a price match at CC or Walmart on the Xbox Live one year subscription Best Buy has in their Sunday flyer. They have it at $19.99, but they have a retraction at the store saying it should be $69.99. However some people are having luck with the price match, and CC is even matching it at $14.99 for some reason.

Avelanchefan --
You were so right about that next mission. I just spent the better part of 3 hours on it. When I landed in the 'hot zone' after the Heli ride and gunning down all of those guys I was on RED HEALTH the entire time up until the point of getting to that Ammo crate where it went back to Yellow. Good grief. Not to mention that just before that part I only had 2 bullets left in my sniper rifle, so I had to pick up an enemies automatic.
Then I finished all the way to the helicopter trying to kill you, so I am back on a 'Team Mission' now. This game is brutal, but so fun. I wish they made more as challenging as this while maintaining the same realism. -

LMFAO,
Hell yeah I was Yellow at insertion, and one bullet automaticly put me into red, so I was constantly stopping and restarting because there is now way to finish these levels in red. It's just to damn impossible.
One other thing, I noticed playing the missions on Live gave me some better practice for the single player. it seemed to me that i was more prepared when i went back to single player.
This game just gets better....will be on Live tonight. -
Well Demiurge and I played a new mode today. It is called Co-op Territories, and you have no respawns, and the enemy is set at infinate. Basically you have to keep a small area secure for XX amount minutes. Talk about intense! It is funny as hell to see 30 gun wielding Sandanistas trying to over run you. We had our time limit set for five minutes, and after about 4 minutes you are basically out of ammo, and usually your teammates are already dead. We only had five players, but its a little bit better to get about 8-12 guys in a room, then you can increase the time to 10 minutes.
This game gets better everyday, and it is a lot of fun trying out new co-op modes. Can't wait for Demiurge to get a headset so we can talk. The most kills I had was 88. -
I will try to get one before the weeks end.
Oh, and man was that mode hard. Sheesh. I love the game though, but I still think the cooperative campaigns are the best.
