sub question

ok i recently hooked up one MM2104DVC (http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/products/mm2104dvc/) to one C300.2 (http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/products/c300_2/) and i am a super audio noob, but it managed to turn out okay. the sub and amp are running fine but the thing is is that i cant turn my bass all the way, while increasing my volume, and still have the sub performing. when my bass is up and i start to increase my volume to around 15-17 (35 is max), the sub will completely die real quick, and slowly kick back in a second or two later. i am not sure if the sub isnt getting enough power or the sub cant handle it or if it may be due to bad wires or what. please please please! someone help me out. i really wanna figure out what is wrong.
