I decided to go on the hunt for the 7 volume Stephen King Dark Tower series hardcover editions. Buying them new at a local Borders or Barnes & Noble would run over $200.00.

I looked to the web and found Amazon would run almost $160.00 for all 7.

I then turned to the Bay. A few sellers had all 7, but wound up selling for as much and sometimes more than Amazon. I took another route and found a seller with the first 4 in like new condition. I won that auction with about 25 seconds left. Price...$40.00 including shipping. Got them yesterday and they are as the seller said. Awesome! I scoured around and finally found another seller offering like new copies of the last 3 starting @ $25.00 with a BIN @ $40.00. With about 1 hour to go (too late to wait till the end), I plopped down the minimum bid of $25.00 (about $5 shipping) and found I won that.

So with a little patience and the 'Bay, I got my books in practically new condition for all of $70.00.

Damn, where will I get the time to read all of these books now! Oh well! ;)

Great deal John, I never have finished reading that series I read through #4, but will get them done someday, now those would make some kind of movie set if they were done up properly.

    great series....
though I haven't always been a big fan of King, I absolutely love the Dark Tower books and have always rabidly waited the next installment (since reading The Drawing of the Three and The Gunslinger back to back)
I felt like the last three books were rushed (maybe not in quality, but by way of release dates -- must have been that near death experience, and he realized he couldn't take 4 or 5 years off between installments:confused: ), so I've kind of put off Song of Susannah and the final book -- but the time is about right:)
congrats on the great deal, and good to see your bargain shopping paid off
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

    Thanks guys!

I scored a really great deal on these. Actually, the second auction win is $7 to ship, for a grand total of $72.00 for all 7 books. 2 weeks back I won an auction for a 1st printing of Skeleton Crew in hardcover. Cost me $45 for that, but to me it's worth it. Hard to find actual 1st prints of his books in great condition. I like collecting his hardback editions.

    So far I have-

    IT
The Stand (first print of the uncut edition)
    Skeleton Crew
    All 7 Dark Tower series
    Cell

Next on my list are Pet Cemetary, Carrie and Salem's Lot.

Looking forward to some heavduty reading. Trying to finish his new one, "Cell."

    Be cool folks,

    John
