Got an email from Audio Advisor for the Black Mamba interconnect (which is the pro-install version of the King Cobra interconnect) on sale right now at Audio Advisor. Same copper, different jacket from what I can tell -- Audioquest doesn't have listed anywhere on it's site.

Since the King Cobra is going for $175 per meter, this looks like a rockin' deal!

Use coupon code AQ3315 at checkout for the 15% discount.

Black Mamba is not the same as the King Cobra. Totally different design.

Still not a bad price for a decent IC plus a 15% discount.

It IS the same copper, and it's a killer price, almost the cost of the termination alone. If the sale is still on when I get the next batch of gear sold, I may cable a rig with it to check it out.

The IC's aren't welded like the Cobras and Diamondbacks.

    Just FYI per Audioquest...

The cables contain the same copper, PSC+ & PSC, ala the AQ King Cobra and Diamondback, but are in-wall rated and hand terminated at Audio Advisor. The connectors alone are MSRP at $40...although I'm sure AA bought more than a pair or two.

They don't have the braided jacket due to the in-wall rating.

I grabbed a couple pairs for my goody box.

Actually, the copper used in the Mamba is the PSC+. It is the same as the King Cobra, not the Diamondback which only has PSC.

    For what it's worth....

Actually, I should have added PSC in the original statement for those that have become confused....the Blue Racer is the PSC and the Mamba is the PSC+. It was a general statement, now corrected, so there should be no confusion any longer.

Here is the sale in it's entirety....

    Black Mamba IC

    Blue Racer IC

    Scarlet Viper IC

    Bedrock Speaker Cable

    Bedrock Bi-Wire Speaker Cable

    Mini-3 iPod IC

    Mini-5 iPod IC

    Black Thunder Subwoofer IC

Bedrock - Silver Spades - Speaker Cable

Just want to make sure folks understand that the "same copper" doesn't mean that the Black Mamba and King Cobra are the same wire, as the name of this thread implies. The King Cobra is "triple balanced" (has three wires) whereas the Black Mamba has a single 20 ga. wire surrounded by eight 28 ga. wires.

Doro -- let us know how the Mambas stack up against your Signal Cable interconnects.

It was stated to me that it's the same amount of copper in these IC's....take that for what it's worth.

BTT - FWIW I've cabled my 2ch system with the black mambas and I'm very happy. When I get the chance I'll try do compare with my heros...

This "sale" (looks like AA just got a bunch of spools on the cheap and they're terminating them as needed) is still going on.

A simple search on the audioadvisor.com site will get you there.

I think I stand corrected on the sale though. Cupon code doesn't work. Still a good deal in some nice cables.

Do all 3 wires carry the signal? This is where aq's philosophy gets fuzzy. I can see where a single strand solid core conductor could cause less distortion than a stranded conductor. But if you send a signal down 3 conductors and expect little or no distortion where the conductors meet then to me they are contradicting themselves. Why? Because there's a chance that not all 3 conductors are the same length and thus the 3 signals reach the end at different times causing distortion. Copper is flexible enough to stretch over time.

Hmmm... Been looking for some nice 3 meter long cables for my amps which sit away from everything else. I wonder if these would do me. :)
