My son used to play Tiger Woods golf on the PS2, was extremely good on that platform.

He carried those skills over to the Xbox 360 platform. Off-line, he kicks derriere.

On Xbox Live, he does the same. The problem ?

Constant "You've been disconnected from the server" messages. He gets bumped all the time. We've eliminated pretty much everything on our side of the equation, so .... Thanks, Bill Gates.

His friends experience the same thing. Anybody else having this problem ?

Plus some of the on-line stats for other players are outrageous to the point of being impossible.

9 Eagle per round average ? I think not. Typical inflated stat, though.

My 2 cents worth.

I played some, but I did not have too many problems getting disconnected. There is a chance that your son is putting the person holding the server to shame and they are quitting out of frustration.

I personally love the online option. Its a ton of fun.

Yeah, if your son is having problem with disconnects it's the person quitting in the middle of the game or a problem with your ISPs connection being a little shoddy.

Try having your son play against some people you know that won't quit a round. See if it is the other person disconnecting or not.

I've been playing the 2007 version for a few weeks now. I played the hell out of Tiger 2004 or 2005 for the PS2 and it is pretty similar....other than the graphics, which obviously blows the PS2 away

Sounds like people are bailing when they are losing...until EA (or MS for that matter) implements a system that actually discourages the practice, it won't stop. Makes it hard for me to play games like that. :(

No this is an EA Server issue. It is the same issue with Madden, NBA Live, FiFa, Battlefield, NCAA football.

See instead of games like Rainbow Six, Graw, Gears of War which depend on the gamer host themselves, EA believes it can host the games for you.

The result is a flood of players that their servers cannot handle, so you get the boot after so long being on it. Madden 2005 was aweful, after that I stopped playing Madden on Live. Battlefield for the original xbox was the same way. You could maybe get two 15 minute games in before you got the boot. (When I say boot I mean the entire server kicked everyone!!) Battlefield for the 360 was the same way on release week, and people really got pissed off. EA heard the gamers and fixed the server, now you would only get the boot after about every 5 games.

So on to Tiger 07. I thought since they fixed the Battlefield server (that hosts up to 24 or 32 players...I forgot) surely Tiger 07 would be able to handle a 4 player golf game. WRONG! Me and two buddies played and it was nothing but pure frustration. Missing 2 inch putts, major LAG, weird glitchy game play. I played that one match and never played again on LIVE.

When EA smartens up and let's the people host their own games on Live, only then will I play. (well until the next battlefield comes out in March) EA needs to stop acting like they are gaming god's and go back to what got them there...the people. BTW- Ever notice that EA has no Sytem Link in any of their games....you know why? Because people would then host their own games on computer servers.

Oh and don't thank Bill Gates..this is sorely on EA's side/issue.

Yes, I would also point the blame in 1 of 2 places:

1.) EA. As avelanchefan mentioned, their online support leaves A LOT to be desired. When I got my 1st few 360 games, I was impressed with online play for ping pong, PGR3, but sorely disappointed in Tiger 06 (lots of lag, disconnects, etc)

2.) Router. Are you behind a router? I had a friend that was getting random disconnects, could not find us to join our server many times, etc. At first he tried opening the appropriate ports on his router. Still no luck, so I think he ended up ditching the router completely.........

I also like how the low score in the daily tournament has been -44 for the last 2 months by the same person...

how the hell do you cheat?

I understand with computers, you can hack and stuff, but how do you cheat with the Xbox?
