Organized Cable Routing Solutions?

I'm beginning to piece together my first H/T system and have questions about cable routing? My current TV stand has no methods of cable organizing.

1. I've read I need to keep electrical wires away from interconnects &
speaker wires. Is this true?

2. What are good methods for keeping the wiring neat? Tie wraps, zip ties,
etc?

3. I have a feeling most of the interconnects are going to be slightly longer
than I need (1 meter run is the shortest I have & it's still a little much).
Can I safely loop these wires-like looping a regular extension cord when
stored-without causing any side effects?

Yes try to keep interconnects separated and away from power cables. Keep speaker wires away from ICs and power cables. See note from Steveinaz on that thread. Also check out the system showcase. Some people have pics of their wire management. Velcro straps, ties, etc. any of those help to keep things isolated and tidy. If you must cross over go at a 90 degree angle. You want to avoid running in parallel power wires with speaker cables and such.

That is why I thought a thread of neat/orderly systems might be good! :D

Good luck on making it all neat. In the end just make sure when you push it all back nothing gets caught under a cabinet.

    Hi kenhiltz,
I read somewhere on Polk's site that they don't want anyone removing the plastic plugs covering the connector banana opening on speakers used in Europe. Apparently the hole size and spacing matches some of the 220v (mains) male plug connectors used there and could cause safety problems.
You won't have any problems using banana plugs for your speaker wires.

To help organize my cables, I went to the local Autozone and picked up a bunch of spark plug wire holders. Can't remember if they were 7 or 8 mm. Guess it depends on the thickness of your wires. They actually do a good job keeping the wires seperated.
