I am sorry if I sound stupid but I really know very little so I am asking for your help.

I currently have Rci series in wall mount speakers and am using Onkyo TX-SR 600 6.1 receiver.

The surround sound just does not have the effect that I was looking for and I was wondering if adding a rear speaker would help?

I already have in wall front and rear surrounds center, and subwoofer.

If i do add a center should it be another center channel or a surround speaker and which would you reccomend? It needs to be something I can mount to the wall/ceiling even though I have the in wall pre-wire it is too close to the vent to do a flush mount.

I've also heard that the rear center will only work with certain movies in 6.1, is this true?

Any reccomendations to improve the sound would be appreeciated.

Thank You

What do you find lacking about the surround field you have now? Have you calibrated your system? Do you know any specific movies where you feel there should be more surround information? Are you sure the settings on your receiver are right?

I don't think adding another surround speaker would help you achieve the results you want. It sucks that you have in-walls because that doesn't give you the option to move your speakers around to see if placement is your issue. Do you have pictures of the room maybe?

If your receiver is capable of 6.1 then it most likely has a setting that will allow you to listen to any movie in 6.1. However, if the movie's soundtrack is not 6.1 then the center channel will not have it's own seperate channel of information, your receiver would most likely blend the information of the right and left surround or something. I had a 6.1 setup but I never used it. I prefer to listen to movies as they are recorded and since most are in 5.1, that's how I listened to them.
