Taking advantage of subwoofer out

On my subs there is an signal out. If I use a Y-splitter in the input and connect the receiver's output and subs output will there be any change?
What about splitting all 3 of the receiver's L/R & sub outputs into the sub?
Yes I know my subs aren't the greatest but with the Daytons and added poly-fil it's hard to beat for the money.
Since I'm the subjet of subs, what's your opinion of the best music sub under $1000? I've heard the SVS isn't the greatest in it's upper range. 2 of the Part Express 12" Dayton Titanic kits seems to be the best option or build my own from scratch.
Thanks for any help.

Build your own sub using the two 12" Daytons that you have already. Put both of them in a single box. All you need is some MDF and a plate amp. You can build an awesome sub for about $200. Search the 'net for a design that you like.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub
