Splitting Preamp Output for Bi-amping

What is the best way to split the preamp output on my Adcom GTP-450 to feed two amps for the purpose of bi-amping a pair of RTi12's?

What effect on impeadance will this have on the preamp?

Will there be vastly different gain levels that the amps will see when splitting the signal? For example, when splitting the output to two amps, will twice the volume setting be required to achieve the same volume level as if I was driving one amp?

Anything I need to be careful about? Im not really a newbie when it comes to this but Ive never bi-amped without an active crossover before.

There will be little to no difference as far as the preamp is concerned. The best way to do it is with a good, quality Y splitter, simple as that. People do it all the time, sometimes to bi-amp, sometimes to add a powered sub.

Thanks Russ. That is my understanding also. Just wanted to make sure.

Any suggestions on a pair of splitters?

Signal Cable offers a good pair, so does Audioquest (about $25/pair) if you have a local dealer you could pick them up from.

George, I have a set of cables custom made by a local guy. After several equipment and placement changes over the years I could use a new set of everything. I had them made to specific lengths years ago and now that I move stuff around so much I need some longer ones. Ive tried contacting the guy but he was in Metairie, LA a suburb of New Orleans and that place is still recovering from Katrina. For the time being I will just pick something up from the local Hi-Fi shop or something from one of the big box stores.

Y-Cables. I did the same thing with my Sony's 5.1 analog out. My Harman Kardon receiver has 7.1 inputs, so now when I play SACD i can use all 4 of my surround speakers. It's actually an improvement.
