Not sure if I’m in the right thread.

I just bought a used turntable and phone stage. I am really excited about the sound. The problem is I have no clue what to look for when I am buying a record. I see things like 180 grams, 200 grams, LP, Japanese vinyl, etc. Can someone give me some basic tips on buying records, or what constitutes a good caliber record? I assume there are better caliber records for audiophile listening, as well as basic records that sound good.

Also, is there a good used record web site?

Thanks.

Generally speaking, it's a total crapshoot. I know of several brands of 180 gram and 200 gram vinyl where they put out awesome recordings and complete crap. A lot has to do with the original. Google is your friend, use it well.
