maybe need new speakers?

not too long ago we bought the Polk RM6900 speakers system along with Onkyo tx-sr503 using all Monster speaker wire with digital optical.

the system sound great at mid but when i turn it up a lil more ( volume 55+ ) i loses the bass, its a tight small bass hit instead of the warmth hit. idk if the receiver is strong enough or not.

60% music
40% movies
room size approx: 20x20

the RM6900 is very nice but not quite what im looking for, i wanna shake the house a lil more :) what upgrade should i do next? not very high on budget but i'll do what i can. Now if anyone know how to make this system a lil better please feel free to help out and post your comments.

    What is your budget? Without going overboard, you might be able to get by with just getting a new subwoofer. If budget allows, you would then upgrade your front channels, then rear channels. Later, you could upgrade your receiver as well, but even at an entry level, you have a decent one already.

    budget around 500 - 700


    if i happen to upgrade the fronts, can i use the 2 current front and move it to the back as for rear speakers then i wouldn't have to upgrade the rear and instead sell it for lil more extra money (RM6801T).
    i don't know if i can get any money for selling the sub.
    if i can then maybe i should upgrade the sub first?

    If you want more music than movies (i suposse with good quality) forget HTIB.

    I recommend to you buy a separate components. I mean, The RM6900 sounds very good !!! (superior to any system of Onkyo, Yamaha or crappy Sony), but compared with towers o bookshelf's....is inferior.

    Try to find a 2.1 system and enjoy music with great quality. In the future, go for surrounds and central and you complete de 5.1 system ;)

    I'll give you a couple of suggestions to upgrade your system where you will probably see a significant improvement.

    First, upgrade the subwoofer to something of better quality. You might try www.svsound.com at the PB10-ISD, or www.hsuresearch.com at the STF-1 or STF-2(the 2 plays lower).

    This will take a large portion of your budget(between $350-$450), but you will definetly see an improvement. If you don't want to spend that much for the sub, there are other directions we can point you.

    After the subwoofer, take a look at a pair of RTi4's for the your front channels. You can probably get a little bit of money out the front speakers you have now so you could make this upgrade a little easier. Or you could move them to the back to complete a 7.1 channel surround setup.

    Next, you could upgrade the center to the CSi3 and move you current center the back for 6.1 surround.

    With the RTi4's and an SVS, your $700 budget is pretty much maxed out, but you will have a good, solid front stage for music and movies without breaking your budget.

    thanks for all the fast input :)

    first, i'll get new sub that's for sure, What if i can squeezeeeeE a lil more out of the bank would the monitor 50 a better queezee?

    after the upgrades ( the sub and fronts ) you guys know if the receiver can handle it?

    In order of purchase preference...

    SVS PB10 = $430
    Polk RTi4 = $260/pr.
    Polk CSi3 = $200
    POlk FXi3 = $350/pr.

    Total cost of above system = $1240

    No shipping costs are included.

    BTW, your reciever should be fine for the above configuration.

    i decided to spend the money on just getting a new sub and sell my current sub with the onwalls RM6801/RM101.

    down to what im thinking to get:
    SVS 20-39pci
    SVS PB12–ISD
    HSU STF-3
    MIrage S12

    60% music 'R&B/HipHop'
    40% movies
    for a fairly big room.

    please give me your thought of what will best fit my situation.
