I am moving and it is time to recreate my HT setup. The HT will be in a living room that includes a plasma television and bookshelves on either side.

I am considering the RM7302/RM302 Center Channel, and would like opinions of this speaker.

I am also looking for bookshelf speakers for the front and surrounds (both mid and rear) for a 7.1 system. I am fortunate enough to have a Polk "connection" so price is not really an object, but I dont want to buy the LSi9s if they arn't really worth the extra money.

Thanks for the help.

I don't recommend the LSI 9 but recommend the LSiC for center. Is the best central speaker i've ever heard (there are one model of Boston that is amazing too).

You pay "extra money" for that central but the quality is superb. Try it !!!! ;)
My current new system (step by step :D)

    A/V Receiver: YAMAHA RX-V657
    DVD Player: YAMAHA DVD-S657
    Main Towers: polkaudio® Monitor 50
    Wiring: NeoTecH KS1007 OFC High Definition Speaker Cable ( 2 x 2.64 mm² )

Worth is all relative.....if you can afford them , then yes by all means buy LSi, if not then go for the Rtis

Do you have a specific budget you are trying to stick to? I know you can get good deals on Polk, but budget usually has a place somwhere.

As a personal opinion(which is most of what you will get anyway), I like traditional bookshelf speakers more than the RM series. You will get better construction with the same amount of money if you go with the RTi or LSi line.

I agree with Willow, that worth is relative. Are the LSi's better speakers. In an overall sense, yes. They offer a very solid construction, a fit finish, and better quality components throughout the speaker.

Do the LSi's sound better than the RTi's, again, my opinion is yes. Even run from a receiver, I like from the LSi's better than the RTi's.

My recommendation would be to go with LSi7's for the front and rears, with the LSiC as the center.

If you go with RTi's, then RTi6's for fronts, RTi4's for rear, and the CSi3 or CSi5 for the front.

To help you a little more, do you know what the room size/shape will be of your new home and your entertainment system placement in the room?

Thanks for the information. I should have given a little more information. I currently have an LSiC center channel and a pair of LC265i in-wall speakers that I use in the front. I will be bringing these with me. I do not believe the LSiC will work as the center because the plasma will be above a fireplace. That is why I have been looking at the RM series. I have also been considering the LC80i (ceiling) speakers. The LC265is will most likely be my rear speakers as there are bookshelves on eother side of the fireplace.

The rooms is approximately 15X20 with hardwood floors and windows. Not ideal, but real home theater will be coming later this year.

    Thanks again for the help.

With the current setup going in, the in ceiling speaker might be your best option for the center. Also, since you already have LSi's for the rear, the 7's or 9's would be good left/right speakers.

So you are going to be utilizing a specific room later for home theater? Will you be transferring any of the current/proposed components to the new room

Not sure - probably going to go bigger (floor speakers) for that room. I am going to realy take my time down there.

One more question if you dont mind. I know when I bought the LSiC and the LC265I speakers the installer was raving that they were "timber matched" and should match very well. How will the LSi bookshelves fit in this mix with the in ceiling center channel. If this is going to be 90% home theater does it matter? Also - How far back can the ceiling speakers project good sound?

Thanks again okie. BTW: I like you site.

Why waste money on a temp setup, especially if you're thinking about cutting holes in the ceiling to accomodate this temp setup.

Keep what you have, make it work by way of stands or whatever, and look to make the purchase when you get your stuff where it's going to end up.

Just curious why LSiC won't work with a plasma over fireplace? Maybe I just answered my own question. Is it b/c it's not a new construction home?

Thats right. If I can find a bracket or someway to make the LSIC work - it would be the best scenerio.
