Passive biamping has debatable benefit and even moreso when the two amps are using the same power supply. That said, knock youself out, it's worth a shot.

In theory, you gain 3 db with the double power, in reality, when the bass amp runs out the mid/high does too since they are tied together.

I've done it on my 3805 with the LSi15s. I noticed that the bass was more defined. I'm no audiofile, (I should say that first) but I felt the 8" subs were a little muted, and the highs weren't as forward?without bi-amping. Maybe I'm not using the correct lingo, but the lows/highs were more responsive with it. I didn't notice much of a difference in the midrange.
I owned the 3805 and the LSi15s for 6months before reading about this. It's a pretty simple procedure, I'd be interested in what you find. :)

Nope that's all I did, I just loosened them up and moved them out of the way. That way I would not misplace them...

ok..one other question before i go to all the trouble...i can see the advantage of this when playing music in 2 channel but what happens to the H/T aspect...more power to just 2 speakers..wouldn't that make it a little irregular when watching in 5.1?

Once calibrated for the load change, you shouldn't see any difference when changing volume levels.

the 3806 is capable of doing this via the menu. The 3805 you have to completely rig like they showed on that site. If that's a feature you want, sell your 05 and move to an 06. Done.

i just bought my 05..and would probably lose half of what i paid a week ago to sell it...i've decided that i like the way it sounds just normal, i can crank the heck out of my monitors and they sound awesome so i'll just leave it at that. Besides, my room is not big enough to need a bunch of extra power(16*13)

well i decided to give it a whirl...i think that it sounds pretty good...much more base...and stronger highs...i think if i didn't have a sub i wouldn't miss it now. I would definitely reccomend it as long as you don't plan on using surround rear speakers.

I've done this with mine and definately noticed an improvement in sq. One thing to be aware of, some units you need to reverse the l/r inputs for SURR BACK / MULTI ZONE. I had mine hooked up correctly and heard things go L =>R while I saw things go R=>L. Turns out it's not an isolated issue.
